HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Associate Director of Library Services is responsible for the organization’s library operations and for developing information resources that support the organization’s information needs. The Associate Director of Library Services is an integral part of the organization representing the library internally on committees and externally in the community. This position reports to the Vice President of Wildlife Education Programs.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Oversee library staff and volunteers including but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training and performance management.
Oversee all aspects of the library, including but not limited to, reference services, technical services, outreach, instruction, collection development, serials maintenance, archive maintenance, policies and procedures and web management. This includes the selection, acquisition, evaluation and organization of all library resources, in digital and physical formats.
Oversee all library vendor relationships.
Responsible for managing library budget including identifying and authorizing purchases of equipment and supplies.
Manage scientific journal and e-book subscription packages.
Create annual work plan and prepares quarterly progress reports.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone to assist the VP of Wildlife Education Programs on special projects or events, as requested.

JOB EXPERIENCE
5 years’ experience in a library setting required.
2 years’ experience in a leadership role required.
Familiarity with institutional repositories and metadata management.
Experience in a scientific, zoological or life sciences field preferred.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science or a related field or equivalent specialized training or experience in a specialized library required.
Master’s Degree in Library Science preferred.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Zoology, taxonomy, life sciences, veterinary medicine, conservation, and/or ecology knowledge preferred.
Strong working knowledge of standard library practices relating to public and technical services.
Knowledge of online research databases, integrated library systems (ILS), and LibGuides.
Demonstrated ability to develop on-line web portal and knowledge of on-line best practices.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teams and individual colleagues in a diverse environment.
Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Able to operate moderately complex computer software programs.
