Position : Associate Underwriter – New York, NY – (June 2022)
Job Description : Are you a whiz at analyzing business risks? Are you a natural problem solver? Do you never get tired of answering the question, “What if?”
Under direct supervision, assists in the writing of profitable business through learning and applying risk evaluation and analysis techniques. Learns to prepare new and renewal packages and propose pricing/terms. Learns to create and/or coordinate exhibits and presentation materials and to effectively interact with brokers, insureds, and other internal departments.
Responsibilities:
Learns and applies that knowledge to evaluate and analyze accounts to recommend coverage, policy terms and conditions in order to obtain and renew quality, profitable desired business.
Learns to effectively communicate proposed pricing, coverages and rating plans to brokers. Learns to develops efficient programs, procedures, exhibits and controls to achieve marketing and product line objectives.
Learns to effectively interacts with marketing, loss prevention, and other units to provide top level customer service.
Begins to develop a strong knowledge of insurance products and services, North American marketplace, desired customers (fortune 500 companies) and competitor information.
Gains knowledge and expertise of underwriting and production disciplines through internal and external training programs.
Begins to keep abreast of industry trends, developments, and regulatory changes to ensure continued superior insurance coverages for targeted market.
Performs related duties and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of the product line unit.
What you’ve got
You have 0-2 years of professional experience.
You hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
You possess strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
You have solid interpersonal skills and demonstrate a passion for customer service.
You must be willing to complete professional designation(s) and continued insurance education.
You must have permanent work authorization in the United States.
