Job Description : DescriptionPosition SummaryWhy It’s a Great Opportunity: As an accomplished data analyst, you will have a key role in data analytics projects pertaining to complex community issues, producing data analyses that are presented across all levels of the organization and the public. This opportunity includes interactions with County departments and stakeholders as you research, compile, and prepare data presentations and information on important issues.We are filling multiple positions supporting the areas of behavioral health, homelessness, and equity.Why It’s a Great Department: While this role is in the Finance Department, you will be conducting independent research and analysis for projects among numerous County departments in support of County-wide strategic goals, priorities, and initiatives. This role closely collaborates with the County’s Information Technology team, which is housed within the Finance Department.How to be Successful in the Role: We are looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of consolidating and translating data from a variety of sources into easy-to-understand visuals, interactive dashboards, and reports, and can clearly articulate results to diverse audiences. A research background with statistical analysis skills using tools such as R and Python is preferred. The successful candidate will generate insightful, relevant research and actionable, data-driven results to further the County’s strategic priorities.Your Future in this Role: You will work closely with Finance Department leaders. You will be able to collaborate across the organization to analyze data pertaining to the County’s most important programs.Core Daily Responsibilities: *Use data and analysis of outcomes to inform budget and program decisions, including system and/or process changes, program improvements, and new program development.Develop data-driven reports and visualizations for various audiences that help convey a range of outputs and outcomes of County programs.Design, build, and maintain public-facing data dashboards.Compile data for and prepare project briefs, progress reports, proposals, and final reports.Collaborate with department Business Analysts and IT peers to coordinate and create detailed project plans and schedules including risk identification to ensure the successful use of complex data sources and systems.Report status of project activities and resources to mitigate risk and assess business value achievement.Conduct presentations and/or briefings on all aspects of assigned projects.A complete classification description can be found here.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in data science, data management, business analytics, statistics, public or business administration, or a related field.Two years of professional work experience in data collection, analysis, design and display or any equivalent combination of education and experience is required.***Clearly relevant experience, education, or training can substitute for the above.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships.Desirable Qualifications: Experience with analytical software tools is strongly desired.Supplemental InformationAPPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESSTo be considered for this opportunity:Complete and submit an online Pierce County Employment Application.
