Description of Job
The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the communications, marketing, promotions strategy for History Colorado and its eight museums, preservation and education programs. This position is responsible for conceptualizing and implementing marketing and communications plans aimed at cultivating and retaining diverse audiences, meeting visitation targets and generating earned income.
Communications Leadership and Strategy Duties:
Comprehensive marketing-based strategic and campaign planning with defined metrics that measure success.
Marketing and communications strategy that drive to the organization’s top goal: Engage 1 million people annually by 2025.
Communicate success and strategy to key stakeholders, including Board of Directors and History Colorado leadership.
Utilize data and market research to refine, formulate and achieve successful connection with both core and developmental audiences.

Building Audience Engagement Duties:

Implements market strategy and campaign plans utilizing multiple communication channels, including: corporate, digital, and earned media
Accomplishes defined metrics of audience engagement that support the organization’s top goal:
Engage 1 million people annually by 2025
Collaborates across the organization to meet communication goals
Establishes History Colorado as the preeminent cultural organization for and of Colorado
Works with volunteers and interns.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
At least seven years of experience in marketing and communications with demonstrable success
Demonstrable experience in leading a dynamic team
Experience in successful digital marketing strategy
Ability to communicate among the diverse audiences that represent the state of Colorado
A successful Director of Marketing & Communications will possess the following temperament and character traits:
