The immediate vacancy is located in Waipahu to Aiea.
Salary: $5,600 to $6,812 per month (SR-26, Step C-H).
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary
Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating a statewide Hunter Education Program through subordinate specialist who implement program operational activities through volunteer instructors. The work involves supervising the implementation of hunter education certification courses, and other informational and educational activities and events statewide; planning and developing five-year program plans and annual requests for program grants to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service; planning, developing and implementing program plans, projects and activities such as a statewide range development program to establish shooting and program facilities on each island; planning and developing avenues for community and consumer awareness of the program’s activities, goals and objectives; and other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Hunter Education Experience: Six months of responsible work experience in hunter education activities that demonstrated knowledge of legal requirements pertaining to hunting, basic principles of wildlife conservation and management, types and uses of firearms and other hunting methods, firearm/outdoor safety, and survival/first aid.
Education/Training Experience: One year of progressively responsible professional work experience in a program of training and/or education as an instructor, or other comparable professional position. Such experience must have involved and demonstrated knowledge of basic education or training methods and techniques, and the ability to identify education/training needs and provide instruction to students or groups, and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, including speaking before groups.
Specialized Experience: One year of progressively responsible professional work experience in a Hunter Education Program that demonstrated knowledge of hunter education program requirements and the ability to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate hunter education program activities.
Supervisory Work Experience: Supervisory work experience which included: 1) Planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others; 2) assigning and reviewing their work; 3) advising them on difficult work problems; 4) training and developing subordinates; and 5) evaluating their work performance.

License: You must possess a valid license to drive in the State of Hawaii at the time of appointment.
Lifting and Carrying: Applicants must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds unassisted, and 80 pounds with assistance of another person and/or the use of equipment (e.g., hoisting equipment, hand truck, etc.) for heavier loads, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Firearms Requirement: Applicants must meet all Federal and State regulations pertaining to the carrying, use and possession of firearms and ammunition. Under the requirements of the Federal Firearm Gun Control Act, applicants for these positions may not possess a conviction of domestic violence.
