Position : Foreign Influence Coordinator
Job Description : This position reports to the Office of Research Integrity which is the primary unit for developing and implementing research compliance programs that promote ethical and legally compliant research practices throughout FIU’s research enterprise and will report directly to the Manager. This position will ensure compliance with federal, state and university regulations as they relate to international activities and foreign influence. This position will also collaborate with principal investigators (PIs), central administrative units and other key stakeholders in conducting compliance reviews and other compliance activities including education/outreach activities.
Conducts foreign influence screening, through a risk based assesment, of employment applications for certain employees and visitors. Communicates screening outcomes with Human Resources and other units as applicable.
Works with Office of International Student and Scholar Services to ensure that all applications for international visitors are reviewed and approved by ORI prior to the visa processing.
Assists with international collaboration planning, vetting, risk assessment, and management.
Understands, maintains familiarity and ensures compliance with federal, state, and FIU regulations and policies governing international activities, including fiscal, travel, procurement, human resources, and other relevant policies.
Reviews FIU faculty and staff international activities for compliance with FIU, state, and federal requirements.
Provides support and assistance with other compliance segments in the Office of Research Integrity such as Conflict of Interest in Research, Monitoring Plans, export controls, conflict of commitment and others as necessary.
Participates in the Division’s special projects, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience understanding complex regulations and compliance in an academic setting.
Experience working with university faculty and staff.
