Responsibilities of UMass Global full-time faculty include teaching, mentoring and service. Research activities are supported, but not required. All faculty positions are non-tenure track, primarily hired at the rank of Assistant Professor, however, higher rank may be considered if appropriate. The ideal candidate will have:
Earned Doctorate from an accredited university;
Experience in an executive leadership role within an organization;
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience in leading organizations through transformational change;
Recognized as a transformational leader and innovator;
University teaching experience at the graduate level;
Online teaching experience
Strong online and blended learning teaching skills
Experience with virtual learning technologies
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others
Experience and skills in facilitating and leading groups, designing and conducting large and small group training, and making presentations;
Strong writing skills.
The preferred candidate will have:
Demonstrated experience in conducting and guiding research studies and experience serving on dissertation committees is highly desirable.
Expertise in research methodology;
Experience in course and curriculum development;
Experience with Institutional Review Boards (IRB) in conducting research.
Experience in business, nonprofit, health care, public service, or the military in a leadership position.
Responsibilities:
The School of Education is nationally accredited through NCATE and all credential programs are accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). Umass Global doctoral program is built on a foundation of strong interpersonal skills and relationships among students and faculty. The program is primarily offered online, but also includes in-person opportunities for students to convene and learn together in local cohorts, and three-day weekend Immersion experiences. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience and skills necessary to facilitate and lead groups, design and conduct large and small group training, make presentations and publish. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to collaborate and serve on the doctoral leadership team to oversee the planning and implementation of immersions, contribute to the professional development of faculty and cohort mentors, oversee the design of online courses, and be committed to continuous improvement. Enthusiasm for and experience with technology and online teaching is desirable, as well as experience in course development or curriculum. Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail are highly important.
This faculty member will be asked to chair doctoral dissertation committees and supervise student research projects. Coaching and training new dissertation chairs and committee members, as well as conducting quality reviews of dissertations are important parts of maintaining high quality doctoral research and will be required in this role. Expertise in research methodology is desirable. Experience with Institutional
The incumbent will be responsible for oversight and instruction of doctoral courses within the Ed.D. Organizational Leadership program. The position will support faculty and adjunct faculty working in the Ed.D. program.
