Position : Internal Auditor I
Job Description : Overview:
Reports To: Internal Audit Supervisor
Primary Functions: Develop and execute audit programs for the systematic review of the credit union’s activities. Perform internal audits of the credit union’s operations to ensure adequacy of internal controls, compliance, operational efficiency, security, and accuracy of information. Prepare and retain audit workpapers and reports in sufficient detail to support audit findings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop audit program based on evaluation of internal controls, risk assessment, and compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and security.
Perform audits and reviews in accordance with audit programs.
Prepare audit workpapers sufficient to support audit findings, create audit report, and perform follow-up of audit report responses.
Assist the external auditors and the NCUA examiners, as required.
Research member inquires and complaints. Report findings to the Senior Vice President.
Research branch and employee issues and report findings to the Senior Vice President.
Review audit workpapers and reports that were prepared by other members of the Internal Audit staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business degree with emphasis in accounting. CPA or CIA candidate required. Senior position requires CPA, CIA, or Loan Review Certificate designation.
Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education: Not Applicable
Experience/Skills: Professional attitude and the ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality required. Must have strong oral and written communication’s skills, strong analytical and logical reasoning ability, human relation’s skills, and extensive experience with Microsoft’s Word and Excel programs. Prior financial institution experience desired. Internal Auditor I requires experience in accounting or auditing field. Internal Auditor II requires minimum of two years of experience as an Internal Auditor I with proficient development, two years of progressive auditing experience in another organization, or a combination thereof. Senior Internal Auditor requires a minimum of two years of experience as an Internal Auditor II or a minimum of three years of progressive auditing experience.
Tenure: Assignment to the Internal Auditor I category 10, Internal Auditor II category 09 or Senior Internal Auditor category 08 will be determined by the candidate’s education or experience. Advancement requires management recommendation and will be based on the candidate’s certifications and/or performance.
