Job Description : To help us continue to provide quality mental health services to our communities. We are seeking a Mental Health Counselor or Marriage and Family Therapist who will treat office clients and provide brief interventions to our community partners.Responsibilities:Be able to work collaboratively with team members. This requires the clinician to have their own level of personal insight and reflection on their own growth. Collaborations involve the ability to lead as well as follow and the understanding of which aspect applies to each situation. Collaborations are not competitive and involve the ability to listen and be open to other ideas and feedback. The motivation to work as a team and the understanding that helping each other is raising the team up as a whole entity.Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. A level of professionalism is expected at all times. As clinicians we must be able to understand and control our own emotions. Boundaries with clients must be clear.Time management is an important responsibility as documentation of client sessions is an import part of the job. Employees are expected to be prompt and accurate with clinical documentation.Schedule appointments and manage your own calendar.Clinical responsibilities include seeing office clients, community clients, running process groups, psychoeducational groups, and conducting trainings.Following all laws and ethical codes. All employees are expected to have competent knowledge in the clinical laws of the State of Hawaii and the federal laws that apply to our field. All employees must be competent in the ethical codes of their practice.SkillsBeing flexible and adaptable to change. This is a high pace, stressful environment. if flexibility is something that you struggle with, this is not the job for you. We work with community partners, and don’t always have control over our own schedules. Plans change frequently, and quick decision meeting is a must.Ability to run groups and conduct trainings. The ability to lead and implement therapeutic process groups. Process groups are a weekly task. The agency also provides CEU training for the State of Hawaii. Staff contribute to trainings as a team.The ability to adapt to our model of treatment. Working under our umbrella will require all clinicians to follow the same trauma-focused model in treating clients. Clinical supervision is required for each employee, regardless of licensure.The ability to communicate efficiently and effectively. Transparency is an expectation in working as a team. Hidden agendas are not allowed. Liability is the biggest issue and having communication skills to communicate pertinent information in a timely manner is a must.Education and ExperienceMasters degree in clinical psychology that will lead toward Hawaii State licensure. We need someone who has already obtained it, students do not qualify for this position. In order to obtain a license in the State of Hawaii, your masters graduate coursework must match the 48 semester hour requirements. Please check the State of Hawaii rules for license clinicians.License in Mental Health Counseling in the State of Hawaii or License in Marriage or Family Therapy in the State of Hawaii. We will consider post graduates with a Masters in Clinical Psychology who have accumulated and documented 1500 clinical hours.Extensive experience with the cultural competency in a clinical setting, specifically to the Hawaii culture. Understanding the culture and client attunement is a requirement of the job.We are looking for a very specific skill set.
