Job Description : Operations Manager – Philharmonia NorthwestPhilharmonia Northwest is a Seattle chamber orchestra which for more than four decades has presented quality performances of works ranging from the classics to world premieres. The orchestra is composed of dedicated musicians who contribute their time and talent to the orchestra’s continuing success, under the dynamic leadership of Julia Tai, Music Director. Philharmonia Northwest presents five subscription concerts each season, in addition to working with the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival to present its annual competition winners’ concert.Description of the PositionThe Operations Manager reports to the board, and works with both the music director and the board to oversee the general health of the organization, and to accomplish the tasks necessary for a successful concert season. Support and training will be given to the candidate on the specifics of the tasks associated with this position. It is an independent contractor position with an hourly rate, and work can be done remotely except for events and concerts. The average workload is 30 hrs per month, although most of the work hours will be concentrated around concerts and events.Qualities and QualificationsThe Operations Manager needs to be self-motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, tech-savvy, and an excellent communicator. Customer service and people skills are also expected. This person needs to be flexible and adaptable, and a self-starter, to help our small organization respond to challenges and opportunities.Scope of WorkOperationsConcert production, including ticketing, front of the house, program printing, artist contracts, and patron support.Manage and maintain the patron / donor database, and provide reports for the board.Assist the bookkeeper in providing financial data for budgeting purposesOther tasks as directed by the board president and music directorMarketingManage marketing and advertising activities to promote Philharmonia concerts and ensure consistent branding, as well as expand the email list, including:E-blast design and layoutSocial media posts / adsPress releasesCoordinate with graphic designer to create artwork for eventsOther digital and physical marketing materialsWebsite Design and MaintenanceCoordinate the design and layout of the websiteWork with the staff and board to create contentGeneral website maintenanceDevelopment / FundraisingWork with the board to create and implement strategic plans to fulfill Philharmonia Northwest’s vision.Work with the music director and board to prepare grant proposals, invoices, and reports for funding.Work with the staff and board to raise awareness of the orchestra in the community, and expand the donor database.Create and send appeal letters / e-blasts in conjunction with staff and board.Serve as lead organizer for fundraising events, in cooperation with the board and staff.Educational OutreachWork with the music director to design and organize educational outreach activities in conjunction with community partners.Ensure discounted tickets for underserved communities and schools.Desired Technical SkillsMust be proficient in typing and common productivity/design programs, including:WordPressGoogle DocsMicrosoft WordMicrosoft ExcelGraphic design software for programs and flyers (In-Design, Photoshop, or similar).Ticketing / Event software (such as Tessitura, Arts People, Vendini, etc).Fundraising software such as Auctria or Greater Giving.Training will be provided if necessary, but previous experience is a plus.This is an hourly, independent contractor position starting at $25/hr and approximately 30 hours per month.Job Types: Part-time, ContractPay: $25.00 per hourSchedule:Monday to FridayWeekend availabilityCOVID-19 considerations:This is a primarily remote work position, only with occasional contact every few months.Education:Bachelor’s (Preferred)Experience:Administrative: 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:PMP (Preferred)Work Location: Multiple Locations
