Job Description : FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Reports to: Dispatch / Terminal Manager
Status: Full Time, Regular

Normal Work Hours / Days: Regular shop hours are 7AM-5PM Monday through Friday. Often required to work overtime in high season based on workload. Summer schedule may be adjusted to accommodate decreased workload.
Summary:
Responsible to safely and efficiently pilot oversize loads. Must have ability to meet all industry and regulatory requirements on construction (often remote) project sites.
Essential Functions:
Safely and efficiently escorts permitted oversized loads
Driver drives in front of or behind the oversize load and apprises the load driver, via CB radio of all obstacles
May be required to assist the load driver in the preparation of the load for safe and legal transport
Must familiarize him/herself with the permitted routes to guide the load safely
Effectively work with other members of project team to meet contract/project requirements
May be required to perform yard duties as needed
Other Tasks: Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions and able to perform other tasks satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
Minimum: possess a valid driver license and obtain flagger certification prior to employment. Must have an excellent safety record.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
Ability to see and record written data and information.
Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
Ability to meet project schedule with dependability and consistency.
Ability to wear protective clothing.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in the equipment yard and at project sites with moderate to loud noise levels. Much work time is spent on the road driving to and from pick-up and delivery sites, including night driving. Must be able to work in the outdoors in extreme cold as well as adverse arctic weather conditions for extended periods of time.
Ability to frequently lift and move at least 75lbs and climb on and off loads. Ability to sit and drive for long periods.
