As an Issue Policy Manager for Adult Nudity & Sexual Activity (ANSA) on our Americas Trust & Safety team, you will ensure that our policies effectively capture and catalogue content that violates our community guidelines. Your core responsibilities will be to design and enforce content policy standards that address delicate themes like nudity, pornography, sexual exploitation, gender-based violence, and more. You will also advise on ways to honor female empowerment, support survivors of sexual assault, and advocate for gender equality. This role requires one to contemplate the complexity with which different global regions perceive the appropriateness of sexual themes, and to design policies that respect culture and uplift communities. You will work closely with colleagues in Product & Process, Data Science, Product Feature, Legal, Public Policy, and Communications. The ideal candidate has sophisticated experience working on complex issues related to gender and sexuality. This role will report out of our Mountain View or Los Angeles office.

What will I be doing?

Author and revise product policies that are relevant to adult nudity and sexual activity, and consider the rights of human sexuality and expression.
Act as a global escalation point of contact and advisor who responds to urgent and grey-area content cases.
Review policy enforcement decisions regarding the thematic appropriateness of different content, including considerations of cultural and political sensitivities.
Consult with external researchers and scholars to learn about regional perceptions of human sexuality and how those views can be adapted to support our content policies.
Work closely with our internal cross-functional partners, like Global Public Policy, Product, Operations, Legal, Public Relations, etc., to improve content policies and streamline enforcement processes.
Collaborate tightly with your ANSA Issue Policy peers in Dublin and Singapore.
Partner with adjacent Issue teams, like Minor Safety and Harassment & Bullying, to identify when policy themes overlap and how we can best reconcile redundancies and nuances.

What should I bring with me?

5+ years experience working in Law, Public Policy, Social Work, Psychology, Survivor Advocacy or another field relevant to themes of adult sexuality and gender rights.
Understanding of Trust & Safety in the entertainment media technology sector, with comfort learning internal tools and product workflows.
Passion as an ally and advocate for uplifting women’s safety, combating gender-based violence, empowering LGBTQ+ rights, preventing sexual exploitation.
Crisp ability to educate a wide variety of business stakeholders including Content Creative, Product Policy, Engineering, Public Policy, Legal, Communications, and Data Science on the nuances of adult sexuality.
Zero fear of, and an enthusiasm for learning new tools, backend structures, and unique product features.

Nice to have.

Fluency in a language other than English.
Experience working in non-western cultures, or knowledge of variations in culture and values across diverse populations.
Familiarity designing policies, codebooks, measures, questionnaires, surveys, etc. that are vetted for high rater reliability or successful moderator scalability.
