Position : Production Operator

Job Description : The Production Operator acts as the asset owner and is responsible for ensuring that all equipment is operated in accordance to SI Group’s ZERO EHS impact philosophy. The Production Operator supports the sites production capabilities by ensuring proper operation and support of production equipment, and by initiating immediate notification of improper working production equipment.
Primary Duties:
Considered the “Asset Owner” and responsible for executing operator work processes and procedures in a way that maximizes yield and minimizes waste
Participate with Production management, Maintenance and Engineering to identify, address and correct root causes of mechanical downtime
Support the Production Coordinator and Engineering in completing process improvements and rate tests to identify optimum operating conditions
Complete in-process sampling and analytics for verification of in-process product quality
Responsible for ensuring that Management of Change (MOC) procedures are followed in their assigned work area
Responsible for issuance of work permits in their assigned area
Ensures maintenance work orders are written and followed up for their assigned work area
Responsible for completion of start-ups/shutdowns/changeovers/maintenance preparation/LOTO and other tasks in a safe, thorough and efficient manner as possible to minimize down time and to maximize production
Ensures adherence to ISO-9002 policies and procedures outlined by the approved ISO Standard and Programs
Maintains workplace organization through the execution of 5S quality principles and related practices
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications – External
Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required
Completion of a 2-year Process Operations Course from an accredited College, Junior College or equivalent years of experience in a related environment is a plus
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Strong general math skills
Strong mechanical aptitude

Software:
MS Office
Proficiency with or ability to learn relevant chemical production operating systems

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
Solid troubleshooting, decision making, and judgement aligned with department objectives
Ability to work independently with limited direction and meeting deadlines
Must be a team player and support a strong team environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to modify individual approach situationally
Must be able to work a 12 hour rotating or other flexible shift schedule
Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and carry 50 lbs.
Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
