Job Description : Overview
The Clerk is the County recorder of instruments affecting title to real estate or personal property. It is the responsibility of the Recording Office to maintain the official records of the County.

Position Function and Duties
The Recording Office is paperless, and the clerks work from scanned images of the original documents which are returned to the document originator at the time of recording. Additionally, the office provides an eRecording service where a customer can record documents without leaving their office. The service requires the use of a third party vendor who, for a fee, provides various quality control reviews prior to sending the document to Recording to be recorded.

Additional responsibilities of the Recording Department include assisting the public with information on land, subdivision plats, and other recorded instruments, issue marriage licenses and perform marriage ceremonies, serve as an official passport acceptance agent for the U.S. Department of State, and offer notary services to customers.

This Recording Clerk 2 is responsible for performing entry level tasks to achieve desired business objectives of the Recording Office. This position is responsible for efficiently and effectively processing common documents presented for recording into the Official Records. All functions are performed in accordance with the Recording Office policies, procedures, and guidelines with ample direction and/or supervision.

Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required
Two years of clerical experience or any combination education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties
Two years customer service experience required
Two years cash handling or cashiering experience required

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required
Accurate sequential filing skills required
Proficiency in business English and business math required
Good organizational skills and attention to detail required
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Effective interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and professional demeanor are required
Use tact in sensitive situations, maintain confidentiality of restricted files, and maintain a courteous attitude toward the public at all times
Demonstrate proficiency with operations and general care of the PC and printers required
Ability to work independently and handle routine items without supervision
Ability to work extended hours

Physical Requirements:
Office: Majority of the time is spent sitting at the computer, remainder of the time is spent assisting in other functions
This position requires clear verbal interaction with employees, the public and agencies
This position may require bending and reaching
This position may require going to other departments and/or offices on different floors and/or buildings throughout the day
This position may require occasional travel to other sites to review products, or attend meetings, seminars or classes
Ability to use standard office equipment
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
