Job Description : We are looking for top analytics talent in Hawaii to help transform how Bank of Hawaii leverages data. We have an exciting opportunity to contribute to our data analytics reporting and increase amount of information and insights our business stakeholders will have at their fingertips. This role will partner closely with other data analysts to identify opportunities for consistency, standardization and automation in reporting.
Under direction of the Strategy Analytics Manager, this position is responsible for conducting data analysis to support bank strategy, including identifying and evaluating opportunities and tactics to achieve strategic goals. Presenting data analysis findings to key stakeholders. Generating new ideas and analytic solutions to meet bank goals. Promoting the bank’s analytics culture and knowledge sharing. Supporting the development and execution of performance tracking reports. Assisting in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.
Conducts and presents data analysis to support bank strategy and identify opportunities. Speaks with business managers to obtain strategic context and understand how their analysis request meets business needs. Follows data collection methods to accurately query and validate the bank data needed for analyses. Retrieves and compiles external summary data needed for analyses. Accurately processes and summarizes the relevant data, with guidance as needed. Validates the summarized data and understands the general trends. Presents the summary and general trends.
Supports Analytics Development and Culture. Works on idea generation and collaborates, in a supporting role, on analytic solutions to meet bank goals. Identifies and communicates concerns regarding data quality or documentation. Displays a desire to improve upon analytics skill set and seeks guidance on how to do so. Engages in the bank’s information and analytics culture.
Supports the execution and development of performance tracking reports. Speaks with business managers to obtain business context and understand their reporting needs. Supports report creation and development for business unit(s) in primary area(s). Accurately queries, compiles, and organizes data to clearly convey the information reported. Communicates recurring processes and seeks guidance on automation options. Understands the purpose of each report and identifies when reporting may not be achieving its intended goals. Identifies and notes key trends with report delivery.
Provides support to ad-hoc data requests from executive management.
Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
This position requires use of a personal computer and other standard office equipment (fax, scanner, copier, calculator, telephone).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree with major in quantitative field or equivalent work experience.
Experience: 1+ years of experience conducting data analysis; exposure to strategy development preferred.
Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar software. Ability to learn to use other software and applications as needed
Other Job Qualifications: Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Proactive and takes initiative. Detail-oriented and conscientious. Clear communication skills. Desire for continual professional development, especially of analytic skills. Able to occasionally work flexible hours as needed.
