The Media Studio team at REI is seeking a Manager, Studio Ops/Photo to oversee the day-to-day operations of our studio production flow. In this role, you will provide people leadership, supporting photographers, stylists, and sample coordinators; enabling the team to do their best work through coaching, direction, and support. You must be able to bring the best out of your team and you work tirelessly to improve the processes that allow the team to stay focused, happy and operating at scale.
In this role, your day might include facilitating the schedule, setting priorities, helping to adjust to support the business and supporting the adherence to brand and style guidelines. You must be a champion of operational excellence, hold a high bar for creative and technical standards and develop a constructive feedback loop for your own team and partners. You will mentor junior and senior members of your team and you’ll support a talented group of freelance contributors. Your responsibilities also include overseeing the regular maintenance to our studio sops, as well as supporting the creation of tactical guidelines for the teams.
In addition to working with the media studio team, you’ll be a key member of the greater creative operations team and will partner closely with them on post-production and final delivery of imagery. You will also represent the studio and work closely with partners across the co-op in our brand lab creative, co-op brands, project management, digital, merchandising and DC partners.

Job Responsibilities
Develops tactical guidelines for photographers and stylists to utilize to achieve brand and creative standards by collaborating with the BrandLab creative team and creating a regular review/alignment cycle.
Communicates brand strategy, seasonal campaign concepts and special project needs to photographers and stylists for photographic production to support marketing initiatives.
Manages the Sample/Merchandise Tracking systems and the individuals leveraging them to increase productivity, availability of products and reduce shrinkage.
Works closely with Marketing, Site Merchandising and Private Brands to ensure that all photography meets styling and photography goals.
Works closely with Pre-Media Supervisor to evaluate photography for technical quality and creative execution.
Works cross-divisionally (Studio leadership, BrandLab Creative, Co-Op Media, MKTG Project Management, Digital, Product Marketing, and Co-Op Brands) on project and process strategies.
Works closely with Digital Retail, IT, Marketing and Photo teams to ensure digital assets meet all technical and quality standards.
Reviews and evaluates daily photography quality and styling execution and creates a constructive feedback loop with the team.
Responsible for the day-to-day studio photography output for quality and production.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the photography, styling, and sample team.
Manages, provides training and gives performance reviews for Studio photographers, stylists and sample coordinators.
Creates development path and training standards and works to develop up-and-coming talent and crew.
Responsible for maintaining a freelance talent pool of photographers, stylists, coordinators and assistants and prioritizes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in resourcing.
Works closely with external vendors on identifying photography equipment standards and proactively recommends future updates to equipment
Fields partner questions on products and image content, availability, quality, and issues.
Develops a share-out process of recent work and seeks to find imagery already in the library for partners as needed.
Tracks volumes and productivity and reports weekly, monthly and quarterly to Sr. Manager, Media Studio.

Minimum Qualifications
Typical applicants for this role will have 5+ years of experience in commercial photography production, at scale, and 3+ years of supervisory experience.
Thorough knowledge of camera formats, expert level knowledge of lighting equipment and techniques and an extensive knowledge of high-end digital hardware and software.
Proven ability to build capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervisory efforts.
Creates a strong, mutually supportive work spirit and culture where people can do their best work.
Has a proven track record of managing a production budget, forecasting and managing resources, training and equipment budgets.
Champions innovation stays apprised of trends and maintains relationships across the photo production industry.
Excellent verbal and written skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across various audiences, keeping them in mind.
Preferred Qualifications
BFA in Photography or Film/Video Production
