Position : Wastewater Collection System Operator
Job Description : Please submit a completed employment application (form located at www.svsewer.com/mission-statement/employment/) and resume through Indeed or physically through South Valley Sewer District, Attn: General Manager, 1253 W Jordan Basin Lane, Bluffdale, UT 84065.WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM OPERATORUnder the supervision of the Field Services Director, performs a variety of tasks involving the general operation and maintenance of District’s sewer collection system and related facilities and equipment.Duties may include, but are not limited to: Operating and troubleshooting problems using a TV Truck, related camera and equipment to inspect sanitary sewer lines.Operating a combination unit jet truck.Inspecting and cleaning the interiors of sewers and pump stations; conducting routine tests of sewer pipes; cutting and removing roots, grease and other obstacles from sewers.Removing and inspecting manholes covers and manholes.Reading maps, construction drawings and following instructions in establishing routes and work schedules.Maintaining records and logs; completing reports as necessary and working with Engineering Department to ensure accuracy.Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Field Services and/or the General Manager.Requirements include: High school diploma or GED.A working knowledge of safety-related OSHA requirements.Ability to read construction drawings, complete work orders and interpret construction specifications.Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, peers, all District personnel, contractors and members of the general public under varying circumstances.Ability to work overtime if required and to respond to emergencies and diverse operational demands. Available to be on call.A valid Utah driver’s license. Within 30 days of hire, must obtain a temporary CDL license and within 90 days, a permanent Class A CDL license with a current medical card and tanker and air brakes endorsements.Must obtain a Wastewater Collection Systems Grade I Certification within eighteen months of hire.Position entry level and pay grade will be based on the selected applicant’s education, work history and experience.
