Job Description : Alamosa Construction SupervisorReports to: Director of San Luis Valley Single Family DevelopmentClassification: Non-Exempt, HourlyDivision: DevelopmentComprehensive Benefits to include 85% employer paid health and dental insurance, dollar-for-dollar 401(k) plan matching contributions up to 4% of earnings, free life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, and extensive time-off including holidays, sick leave, and paid vacation.Job Summary: Community Resources and Housing Development Corporation (CRHDC) is a non-profit housing organization dedicated to creating strong communities via innovative approaches in providing sustainable and affordable housing. The Alamosa Construction Supervisor is a full-time forty hours per week employee, responsible for instructing and overseeing construction and working with our Self-Help single-family homes. The successful candidate will be highly-motivated, self-sufficient, goal oriented as well as a dependable team member and problem solver. This position requires evening work, and work on Saturdays and Sundays when our Self-Help families are building their homes, other days off during the week are granted when our Construction Supervisors work on weekends.Key Responsibilities: Responsible for monitoring the construction of modular homes, new stick built construction, rehab and repairs on rentals, and some Self-Help homes.Responsible for house completion according to city building code and specifications. Building homes within the allowable budget.Must be able to read blue prints and make sure that homes are being built according to blue prints and specs.Attend evening group meetings related to construction and labor twice per month.Teach tool use and safety, maintain safe working conditions, and make sure adequate tools are available for the job being done.Teach and demonstrate to unskilled individuals, the techniques of house construction from foundation to completion and landscaping.Organize work crews for maximum efficiency of people power and materials.Ensure that materials and subcontractors are scheduled and organize as needed and that work is accomplished according to schedule.Maintain good group relations during construction.See that the records of labor exchange are up-to-date.Schedule contractors, order material and will also help with some construction.Is responsible for rental repairs and or scheduling electrical/ plumbingYard maintenance and repairs at rental properties.Coordinate all activities with the Director of SLV Single Family Development to ensure efficiency of our programs.Perform other duties and record keeping as required by supervisor.Qualifications: Education and Experience: Sufficient education, training, and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities which would typically be acquired through:Possess high school diploma.Minimum 3 Years of increasingly responsible construction experience.Knowledge of: General building techniques, with carpentry training.Building requirements for residential developers.Contract management.Should be generally familiar with Rural Development Self-Help Rules and Regulations.Ability to : Bi-Lingual: English/Spanish is helpful, not requiredEncourage and maintain good group interactionTeach building skills to unskilled workersWork on Saturdays and Sundays with our self-help familiesWork with subs, inspectors, and homeowners to keep projects on timePHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
