In addition, the supervisor and manager provide direct support to the team of EMC’s. This position will have immediate responsibility for maintaining Pierce County’s Department of Emergency Management fleet of equipment and vehicles. This position will have direct responsibility working with Pierce County’s Regional Coordination Council in supporting the Equipment Committee.Your Future in this Role: This position is essential to our DEM team and supporting all of our Emergency ManagementStakeholders. There are many exciting opportunities in building a robust logistic program that includes resources, technology and innovative solutions to complex problems.Core Responsibilities: Manage, coordinate and administer emergency management programs that include: planning, training, exercises, operations, logistics and recovery.Work with County departments and stakeholders to provide direct customer service prior to, during and after an incident or disaster.Serve as Duty Officer in emergency response activities.Serve in Section Chief roles when the Emergency Operations Center is activated.Responsible for maintaining the Departments fleet of equipment.Coordinate a resource database that integrates into WebEOC.QualificationsMinimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree andOne-year professional experience in Emergency Management or related activities is required.Any combination of experience/education which would clearly indicates the ability to perform the duties of the position may substitute equally for the recruiting requirements on a year for year basis.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Washington State Driver’s license within 30 days of employment.Ability to successfully complete a Pierce County background investigation.Supplemental InformationAPPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESSTo be considered for this opportunity please:Complete and submit an online Pierce County Employment Application by selecting “APPLY” above or go to: www.piercecountywa.org/jobs.If you do not have internet access, you may visit your local public library or any WorkSource location and use their computers.Individuals needing accommodation in the application, testing process or need this job announcement in an alternative format may call Human Resources at (253) 798-7480, at least two days prior to the need.This is a competitive selection process.
