The department
Janus Henderson offers expertise across all major asset classes, with investment teams situated around the world. These dynamic teams are structured and operate in ways that are best suited to their asset classes and manage products designed to meet a range of investor needs globally. We do not impose top-down house views; instead we allow an appropriate level of flexibility within a controlled environment and encourage the sharing and debate of investment ideas. Our Investment teams are grouped under: Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Assets and Alternatives.

Overview of the role
In this position you will be responsible for performing the trading functions for the fixed income trading desk with a focus on the Securitized Finance market. This includesbut is not limited to: trading agency TBAs and specified pools, asset backed securities, commercial mortgage backed securities, home equity loans, collateralized loan obligations, and private loans. Additional responsibilities include providing portfolio managers and analysts with ongoing information related to the market and trading environment, providing dialogue and strategies related to execution and investment opportunities, and aiding in managing the logistical aspects of the asset class. You may also provide guidance and direction to other staff members and will work closely with departments and personnel throughout the firm to create accurate and efficient processes.

Duties and responsibilities
You will:
Execute of trades on behalf of fund managers, adhering to Best Execution principles.
Utilize technology platforms effectively to operate at a high level of value add to the investment process while ensuring and evidencing best execution of trades.
Suggest strategies and provide guidance to portfolio managers throughout the investment and trading process including providing market commentary and information.
Liaise with brokers and counterparties to gain market information.
Explore and advocate technology solutions to trading, operations, and portfolio management.
Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Investment areas
Your core duties fall within the remit of the Fixed Income department/team.
Technical skills and qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in business, finance or economics.
Minimum of five years trading experience required.
CFA or post graduate degree or progress toward completion preferred.
Knowledge of Bloomberg and other market data platforms, including execution platforms.
Knowledge of Charles Rivers or other trade booking systems.
Knowledge of Intex Solutions, Yield Book and other applications applicable to role.
Programming skills (C#, Python, VBA) strongly preferred but not required.

Competencies required
In addition to putting clients first, acting like an owner, and succeeding as a team, the competencies for this role include:
Previous Trading experience in Fixed Income instruments specifically within Securitized finance, including agency TBAs and specified pools, asset backed securities, commercial mortgage backed securities, home equity loans, collateralized loan obligations, and private loans.
Experience in trading corporate debt, US Treasuries/Agencies, and other sovereigns/quasi-governments required.
FX and derivatives experience, including CDX/CDS, IRS, futures and forwards desired, but not required.
Comprehensive knowledge of securities and markets, trading characteristics and approaches, and factors influencing price trends, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt to new trading strategies and investment products.
Ability to build key internal relationships with Fund Managers and external relationships with brokers.
Attention to detail.
Negotiation skills.
Ability to prioritise and manage time and risk accordingly.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Independent judgement with strong analytical and risk assessment skills.

Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:
Annual performance appraisal
Completion of all assigned compliance training

Compliance requirements
At a minimum the role will require you to:

Understand and follow laws and regulations applicable for your role, seeking the help of your supervising manager or Compliance if additional guidance is required
Understand and abide by all Janus Henderson policies applicable to your role, and seek support/guidance of the policy owner guidance when required
You are ultimately accountable for your actions and responsible for seeking further information on any or all of the above as necessary.
Compensation Information
The base salary range for this position is $150,000 – $165,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

Annual Bonus Opportunity: Position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus award from the profit pool. The profit pool is funded based on Company profits. Individual bonuses are determined based on Company, department, team and individual performance.
