Position Title Gift Shop Clerk, SWRS

Department Southwest Research Sta – 024

Position Summary
The Southwestern Research Station, located in southeastern Arizona in the small, rural community of Portal, is looking for a Gift Shop Clerk for its small gift shop. The Gift Shop Clerk will oversee day-to-day operations of the Gift Shop and conduct direct sales to guests of the station and the community at large.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Handle gift shop sales and manage cash drawer.
Manage inventory, working directly with the Administrative Manager to make restocking purchases.
Make new inventory recommendations to the Director.
Effectively articulate the mission of the Southwestern Research Station and American Museum of Natural History to all guests.

Required Qualifications
Retail experience.
Conversational knowledge of the natural history of the local region.
Good communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in retail sales, working a cash register, inventory management in a retail environment.

Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
