Job Description : Our team is looking for an experienced marketing analytics & data operations manager who will be responsible for tracking & measuring customer engagement end to end. In this role you will work cross functionally with marketing operations, sales operations, digital marketing, lifecycle marketing, web development, and engineering teams to ensure data accuracy & integrity across all major data elements – from first lead acquisition through customer conversion, retention and upsell. You will be part of a highly collaborative team whose mission is to deliver the very best customer experiences. The impact you will be making in this role:
Responsible for problem solving complex data problems, align on data architecture, and data cleanliness to support our customer journey and demand generation funnel.
Create, define, and maintain marketing channel “source of truth” dashboards for all channels including web, email, social, paid media, events & sales enablement
Lead the charge in establishing A/B testing and measurement optimization of new and existing channels
Act as our data global center of excellence including data governance, segmentation, and enablement
Continually evaluate processes and workflows for automation, simplification, or enhancement
Contribute to our marketing analytics roadmap. Collaborate with stakeholders to align on key marketing analytics priorities.
Building strong relationships across the organization including our business team, Finance, global operations & engineering teams.

Responsibilities
Market Research Strategy
Contributes to the conversation for decision process.
Business Issues and Opportunity Framing
Uses understanding of the business (such as planning goals, product timelines, and geography factors) to guide simple problem-framing discussion with stakeholders, form hypotheses, identify challenges, and frame key business problems into a conceptual basis for inquiry. Communicates with stakeholders and reviews current data. Creates a point of view on business issues. Helps stakeholders articulate challenges.
Uses knowledge of existing projects to identify new areas of investigation, and optimizes the scope of research to ensure that it addresses specific business needs.
Research Design
Develops plans that use the best available data sources (e.g., surveys, interviews, telemetry) to answer questions about a business issue, and socializes plans with multiple stakeholders. Applies understanding of the applicability and limitations of data sources in order to inform business problems. Works with stakeholders to clarify the information and intelligence needed to answer specific business problems. Engages with research peers to determine what other intelligence exists, and rationalizes objectives to improve framing and analysis. Uses and builds on existing Microsoft research and published research to improve focus, applicability, and action taken from new research.
Fits the business issue to research methodology appropriately based on size, priority, and the required precision. Improves research studies to improve efficiency and deliver timely results. Helps design and develop research methodologies (e.g., questions for a survey) to answer business questions. Helps design for analytical approaches. Uses whatever sources bringing to bear. Actively pursues alternatives to designs.
Helps manage suppliers to ensure that research projects are high quality, on time, and within budget. Collaborates with stakeholders (e.g., peer group up to director) for research implementation.
Uses understanding of the representation of population for research. Designs research audience while being mindful of potential misrepresentation of research through bias.
Analysis, Insights, and Reporting
Uses analytical plan and modifies as needed. Uses multiple analytical techniques (e.g., regression analyses, descriptive statistics). Develops hypotheses to run analyses. Checks against initial hypotheses. Identifies opportunities to do additional in-depth analysis on specific business questions.
Generates customer insights and recommendations to improve customer satisfaction. Generates insights for a study and source of data. Generates insights that inform future studies and reframe the research agenda.
Storytelling & Communication
Supports synthesis and creation of key reporting outputs to communicate issues and opportunities across the company. Expands the impact of research and insights by communicating to an increasingly broader set of stakeholders and research peers.
Project Management
Builds relationships with members of the team to promote successful project completion. Participates in partner engagements for driving the sale, deployment, and adoption of solutions. Ensures aspects of the project assigned stay on task and according to the timeline.
Speciality Responsibilities
Applies data exploration techniques to discover new or previously unasked questions. Incorporates an understanding of the business, customer perspectives, data sources, and methodologies in order to reframe problems to gain added insight, explores different data sources. Articulates, mines, and merges these data sources. Defines metrics and methodology that accurately quantifies the customer/business value of improvements for the organization through the use of data sources. Conforms to privacy policies that govern data sources.*
Uses data sources or types of data, and applies their expertise within a data source to develop methods to compensate for limitations and extend applicability of data. Learns and begins to apply the appropriate methods, algorithms, and tools, and statistically validates the results against biases and errors. Interprets results and develops insights into formulated problems within the business/customer context. Acquires and uses knowledge of innovative methods, algorithms, and tools from within Microsoft and the scientific literature, and applies analysis provided by team for scalability and applicability to the formulated problem. Validates, monitors, and drives continuous improvements to methods, and applies enhancements provided to data sources that improve usability and results.*
Collaborates with stakeholders across multiple disciplines to make product/service improvements that yield customer/business value by effectively making compelling cases through storytelling, visualizations, and other influencing tools. Develops foundational knowledge and methods to address key or previously unidentified problem areas and uses the appropriate channels to evangelize within the organization. Identifies and assists with the shipment of measurable changes to tools, instruments, models, algorithms, and/or products/services that fundamentally improve the existing model, tool, and/or product/service framework.*

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
2+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
5+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 4+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles
OR Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field AND 3+ years experience in data science, research, marketing or business-related roles.
1+ year(s) project management experience.
2+ years experience working with decision makers to define needs and scope research to answer questions.
2+ years creating content that conveys a simple, clear message.
