Basic Purpose
To control/collect on past due mortgage and equity accounts by performing basic early stage mortgage and equity account (1 – 30 days) counseling tasks, in accordance with all government, investor, VA/FHA, and Navy Federal rules and regulations. Provide administrative support by reviewing member accounts, updating changes in mortgage collection systems, and assisting higher level Mortgage Collection Counselors. Work under immediate supervision.
Responsibilities:
Control past due mortgage and equity delinquencies by regularly reviewing member account data, contacting member, and reviewing or documenting the financial situation, to ensure data is accurate, up-to-date and in compliance with government and Navy Federal guidelinesEnsure required notifications, including collection emails, letters and any applicable state/regulatory letters are sent to membersMaintain systematic, consistent and reliable notes and contact history information on each member interaction and actions taken on accountsRecord, track and report member concerns to managementNotate member arrangements in Collection system, reason(s) for delinquency, and any foreclosure alternatives offered to memberTrack and update action items in database(s)Collect, prepare and maintain data for analysis, reports and referencePerform manager share transfers (MST) for amounts up to authorized limitsObtain detailed financial information from delinquent members and offer solutions and alternatives to bankruptcy/charge-offContact and counsel delinquent members in an attempt to cure delinquency utilizing all payment options and loss mitigation tools offered by Navy FederalSort and distribute incoming mail and other correspondenceOrganize and prepare related documentsRegularly review member account data and/or documentation to ensure data is accurate, up-to-date and in compliance with government and Navy Federal guidelinesPerform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications: – All required unless otherwise noted
Exposure to performing clerical or administrative duties/responsibilitiesExposure to member/customer service preferably in a call center, retail banking or financial institutionFamiliarity with state and federal laws affecting the collection of delinquent mortgage and equity loans; real estate, bankruptcy and foreclosureExperience in performing clerical or administrative duties/responsibilitiesFamiliarity with accounting, credit, and/or lending principles and techniquesBasic clerical, technical or administrative skillsEffective skill following, interpreting and applying relevant data/instructions to guidelines, procedures, practices and regulationsBasic research, analytical, and problem-solving skillsBasic verbal and written communication skillsBasic database and presentation software skillsBasic skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisionsAbility to work independently and in a team environment

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish pay ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the pay range, based on your experience, location, and market position.
The pay range for this position is: $21.50 – $25.00
Hours: Monday – Friday; 11:30AM – 8:00PM CST rotational Saturdays 7:00AM – 11:00AM CST
Location: Headquarters – 820 Follin Lane Vienna, Virginia 22180
Due to COVID-19 and social distancing, this position may require working from home temporarily with plans to return to campus at the desired location listed once Navy Federal is back to normal operations. The specific logistics for returning to campus will be determine at a future date by individual leadership. This position is not approved for permanent telework.
