United States Seafoods is currently hiring seafood processors to work aboard our catcher-processor vessels in Alaska. Crew members work 7 days a week for 12-18 hours per day performing strenuous manual labor without a day off for several weeks at a time. Vessels process at sea from January through November.
Compensation is a Crewshare (which is a percentage of the value of the catch).
DUTIES:Processing fish through factory onboard vesselSort and identify different species of fishRun various factory fish processing equipmentPack fish into pans, case-up and label product into bagsLoad and unload plate freezers, stack product in freezer holdFactory clean up as needed throughout the trip and final end of trip clean upOffload product and back load supplies onto vesselParticipate in required safety meetings, safety drills and trainingQuality assurance: All crewmembers must strive to maintain the highest quality of product produced onboardAbide by all factory rules for HACCP/quality
. Requirements:
Experience in a physically demanding jobMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug screenMust have full use of both handsMust be able to repeatedly lift 50+ lbs, and push/ pull 0 – 50+ lbsMust be able to do repetitive work for long hours in a cold and wet environment (12-16 Hours per day, 7 days a week)Must be able to work in temperatures of -20 to -30 degrees with proper equipmentMust be able to live and work in tight and close quarters shared with othersMust be able to climb in and out of bunk beds 50 inches high
