Position : Shipping & Receiving Manager

Job Description : SUMMARY:
Responsible for overseeing all shipping and receiving processes and product case up at the Cordova facility, including administrative and supervisory functions. Supervises 2-3 forklift drivers and approximately 60 employees. Position is seasonal and requires approximately 4.5 to 5 months on site in Alaska.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages incoming and outgoing shipments of ingredients, packaging, finished product (fresh, frozen, canned, fish meal, fish oil), equipment and supplies.
Works with case up supervisor to manage approximately 60 employees, including 2-3 forklift drivers.
Works with production manager and plant management to coordinate daily production schedules.
Maintains inventory of packaging material and dry ingredients, finished product stored on site.
Works with plant management to ensure packaging and ingredients are ordered promptly.
Monitors records of containers stored off site and ensures proper rotation.
Directs movement of packaging and ingredients based on daily production schedules and volumes.
Communicates with corporate sales, procurement, and logistics departments to ensure that daily production, inventory, and logistics data are tracked and shared.
Review and verification of domestic and export labels.
Recordkeeping and verification including HACCP records, bills of lading, and other relevant documents.
Works with facility TSA coordinator to ensure program compliance during fresh shipments.
Coordinates deliveries of toted fish and roe from local processors.
Oversees plate freezer loading, unloading, and frozen roe packaging.
Directs case up and plate freezer area sanitation.
Works with facility maintenance manager to ensure preventative maintenance in the case up areas is completed, and that in-operation repairs are completed in a timely manner.
Works with plant management to identify and implement process and facility improvement.
Works with other departments to complete designated pre-season and in-season repairs and plant upgrades.
An enthusiasm to assist in other tasks and grow with the facility.
Capable of working outdoors in Alaskan field conditions as needed.
Must always be professional and represent OBI with the highest standards.
Must be able to work and live at a remote work site for the term of employment.
Prompt and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
2-years’ experience in a shipping and receiving role; Seafood preferred,
High aptitude for problem solving and troubleshooting.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with SIMBA or other labeling software preferred.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required.
Must be able to lift 50-70 pounds.
Forklift experience preferred.
Must be able to pass a TSA background check.
COMPENSATION:
Pay rate depends on experience. This is an hourly position that is eligible for overtime pay. In Alaska, overtime is one and one-half times the regular hourly rate and is paid for hours worked over 8 hours in a day and after 40 hours are worked in a week.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Ability to work in Alaska for extended periods from May 1-Sept 30 continuously. The work schedule in Alaska requires long hours, up to 16-hours per day and 7 days per week in a cold and wet environment.
Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise.
Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
Position requires the ability to stand, sit at a desk, walking around office and plant, lifting, and carrying packages up to 50 pounds, utilizing fine dexterity. Requires reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting to inspect equipment. Also requires the ability to see, Hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
Personal protective equipment, as defined by OBI Seafoods, will be provided.
Position will be exposed to different levels of stress and responsibilities.
