Job Description : Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Public Affairs Director, the social media specialist will develop and implement communication plans that will effectively deliver timely, strategic messages to internal and external audiences on a variety of platforms, elevating the organization’s reputation and raising awareness of services. Provide expertise in social media platforms and initiatives, as well as demonstrate strong project management skills.Duties and Responsibilities: Manage official agency social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Nextdoor, Instagram, Spanish Twitter, and Spanish Facebook)Serve as a departmental spokesperson by participating in news interviews and coordinating news interviews with HCSO staff.Support agency divisions and units in the creation of specialized social media accounts and with best practices and procedures for social media contentEngage with employees, the community, and various stakeholders across multiple communications platforms, including English and Spanish social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Nextdoor, Instagram), YouTube, HCSO website, and internal and external newslettersCoordinate the translation of communication materials from English to SpanishServe as a public information officer by coordinating news interviews and responding to active incident scenes to facilitate news media coverageSupport the public affairs team with press releases, press events, newsletters, departmental reports, talking points, and video productionPerform other related duties as requiredThis Job Description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this position.
