Job Description : POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a motivated, highly organized individual to serve as a Clinical Interviewer to assist the investigators with the Maternal Mortality reduction initiative.The initiative seeks to build the evidence base of effective interventions for at-risk mothers from pregnancy until the child reaches 6 months and to identify and implement strategies to reduce disparities in maternal mortality and infant health through community outreach and collaboration with Bronx community-based organizations (CBO’s).The Clinical Interviewer will be based in the Division of Community Health of the Department of Family & Social Medicine.
Recruit members of the target population to administer surveys as part of the weekly surveillance of -related attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors, as per study protocol and procedures.
Inform community members and organizations, using culturally and linguistically appropriate language, about maternal health and mortality reduction and actively link them to other needed services (i.e. social services, primary health care, health education programs, etc.).
Gather available community resources by building and maintaining positive working relationships with community-based organizations (CBO’s), social service agencies, and community/neighborhood programs for referrals
Collect and enter data, maintain accurate, timely, and appropriate documentation, and prepare reports
Provide follow-up with participants and CBO’s by phone, text, videophone, Zoom, WhatsApp, or other virtual media and home visits to improve engagement and ensure that needs are adequately addressed
Revise and develop health education information for individuals, families, and groups on health and wellness, disease prevention and to improve birth outcomes.
Assist with other study-related tasks or other maternal health studies within the team as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school Diploma plus 6 months to 1 years of related experience required.
Must be team oriented, with very strong organizational and follow-up skills;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required;
Must have the flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed;
Bronx resident with extensive interpersonal social network (e.g., extended family, friends, neighbors, fellow congregants, etc.) preferred
Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook. May use other web-based programs as assigned.
Bilingual in Spanish, Creole, Bengali, Khmer, African languages preferred.
Knowledge of the local community, culture, and resources is preferred
Develops effective and respectful relationships with peers, community members, and leadership
