Job Description : Job Title: Communications OrganizerCore Purpose: Support volunteer-led campaigns through external communication planning and implementation.Core Values: Principled Visionary & Collaborative Communication in FairbanksHours: Full Time Position (40 hours/week)Compensation: $20-22 per hour depending on experience; with robust PTO, healthcare and childcare stipends.Reports to: Communications CoordinatorLocation: Fairbanks, AKFirst review of applications: 12p AKST, March 31st. Position start date is flexible based on applicant availability.Summary: Fairbanks Climate Action Coalition is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for climate justice, digital communications, storytelling, and team building. This position will work closely with key staff, working group volunteers, and partners to plan and implement communications supporting climate justice campaigns while maintaining a strong media presence with the creation of original content. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in most or all of the following areas: strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills. They must be detail-oriented, individuals who are comfortable creating, devising and researching innovative solutions in a grassroots organizing space.Primary Responsibilities: Create original content to support campaigns with traditional, social, and paid media;Convene and support a volunteer communications team;Develop volunteer working group communications support systems;Engage on social media, engaging with strategic partners and aligned organizations and influencers;Maintain website presence with compelling digital imagery and substantive content;Additional responsibilities to be identified, as the position evolves.Qualifications: History of community engagement in Fairbanks preferred;Familiarity with social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram & Twitter as well as their business management tools and advertising tools;Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively as part of a team and build trust and maintain relationships with FCAC volunteer members and organizational partners;Ability to work as part of a team and to help lead and support teams;Experience with graphic design, photography, file management, writing, photo editing, document design, and website content management software;Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills;Strong work ethic, ability to multitask, detail-oriented and extremely well-organized;Adept with various online and computer software (Google Apps, Zoom, Canva, Trello, Bitly);Dedicated to Alaska social justice and climate change solutions;Persistent in a personal process of learning and unlearning towards decolonization.Familiarity with the Jemez PrinciplesHow to Apply: Please send a cover letter, resume, design portfolio, and three references to Tara Chrisman at tara @ fbxclimateaction.org with “Communications Organizer” in the subject line.
