Job Description : People First Economy for Arizona is seeking an outreach coordinator for a multi-year, multi-issue, multi-organizational campaign centered around creating a stronger economy for all Arizonans through increased state investments and progressive reform to state policies. This coordinator will support a proactive policy campaign and play a critical role in developing campaign strategy, expanding organizational partnerships, coordinating media and outreach efforts, and engaging in advocacy.
ABOUT PEOPLE FIRST ECONOMY FOR ARIZONA
People First Economy is jointly governed by the Arizona Center for Economic Progress (AZCenter), the Arizona Center for Empowerment (ACE), and One Arizona. People First Economy for Arizona (PFE) is a statewide proactive revenue community campaign. The campaign seeks to inform, empower, and mobilize organizations, advocates, and voters with aligned values to change Arizona’s narrative, policy, and outcomes for its people. PFE’s goal is to increase state public resources and invest them in Arizona communities around the following values and priorities:
Valuing People Over Profit: PFE seeks to create an Arizona where housing is a human right and everyone has access to good nutritious food, clean air and drinking water, and affordable healthcare;
Investing in Education: PFE seeks to create an Arizona where everyone has access to a well-funded public education at every level of learning with teachers and curriculum that reflect the diversity of its students;
Empowering Workforces: PFE seeks to create an Arizona where all workers are provided with a living wage, safe working conditions, health care, paid family medical leave, retirement, and other benefits;
Redistributing Wealth: PFE seeks to create an Arizona where natural resources and wealth are not hoarded by a handful of people, but reinvested equitably back into society and communities that need it most.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR
The community outreach coordinator plays an integral role in the People First Economy of Arizona (PFE) campaign. This position is housed at the AZCenter (overseen by the Assistant Director of Policy and Advocacy) and is accountable to the coalition’s governing committee. This position will be responsible for outreach, relationship building, and will serve as the key point of contact for PFE partners, stakeholders, and media. This is a job for a highly organized, self-starting coordinator who is dedicated to economic justice, advancing equitable policies, and developing strategies to engage and uplift voices of diverse communities. As the community outreach coordinator, you will be responsible for:
Cultivating new partnerships to grow and diversify our coalition and maintaining working relationships with existing PFE campaign partners;
Working with existing and new PFE campaign partners to set the vision for short- and long-term priorities and activities that advance the PFE’s mission, goals, and vision;
Develop strategies and campaign plans to engage and mobilize communities and advocacy organizations across Arizona to take action in support of PFE values and policy priorities;
Collaborating and attracting new partner organizations to forge and implement common agendas, action plans, and strengthen capacity;
Regularly convene and lead PFE coalition meetings, create agendas, record and distribute information, and send updates.
Directing and managing advocacy plans and rapid response efforts, including identifying opportunities for media outreach, events, and product development including messaging guidance, trainings, toolkits, story collection, etc.;
Planning and organizing community events, both in-person and virtual, including town halls, tele-town halls, rallies, trainings, and other events.
ABOUT YOU
You’re dedicated to the mission, goals, and motivation of the People First Economy campaign
You’re a seasoned, successful campaigner or outreach coordinator who has developed exciting, timely ideas that mobilize community partners and generates impact
Experience building and managing diverse and effective alliances or coalitions
You’re comfortable communicating complex ideas to a variety of audiences
Excellent organizational skills and multitasking, ability to meet deadlines and problem-solving
Strong interpersonal relationships skills, excellent communication skills
Self-motivated, creative thinking with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
You’re aware and current on Arizona state politics and issues impacting Arizona
Three years of experience in advocacy, outreach, campaigns, and/or community engagement
LOGISTICS
AZCenter operates a hybrid (office and home) working system that allows employees to work in the most productive location based on job description, project, or task. We provide employees with the resources to work effectively from either the AZCenter office or remote locations. When health conditions permit, we will resume occasional in-person meetings at our office located in central Phoenix.
This is a grant-funded position.
Compensation for this position will be $55,000 – $63,000 in the first year, non-negotiable.
