Position : Entry Level Distillation Operator
Job Description : Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the operation and monitoring of all Distillation equipment. This includes all associated tanks, pumps, and filtration equipment.Responsible for start-up, monitoring and shutdown of Distillation utilities; cooling towers, glycol chillers, vacuum pump, air compressor, and computer control systems.Responsible for transferring product to and from Distillation area and associated tank farms.Will be required to learn the operation of Gas Chromatograph (GC) to monitor processes and evaluate product.Will be trained to correctly complete written batch records, written shift change instructions and SAP inventory transactions.Responsible for maintaining good GMP’s and housekeeping.Assist in the maintenance of required GMP and safety logs.Follow all safety policies and procedures.Perform other duties as required.Competency: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate leadership as well as the following competencies: integrity, high personal ethics, continuous self-motivation, positive attitude, respectful and does not compromise on quality, safety or the environment.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent.Prior experience in a chemical-processing environment preferred.Experience handling chemicals preferred.Knowledgeable in the operation of Distillation columns, process control systems (Delta V), lab analysis preferred.Knowledge of G.M.P’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) preferred.Some mechanical background and forklift operation preferred.Work within a team environment where workplace respect is vital.Language Ability: Ability to read standard operating procedures, company policies and procedures, GMP procedures, safety and sanitary procedures and equipment readings.Ability to provide feedback to Supervision in all critical areas such as equipment conditions.Ability to complete written and electronic batch records.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervision and employees.Math Ability: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, measurements and proportions to practical situations.Ability to conduct or learn conversion of standard to metric measure.Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.Ability to evaluate results, make recommendations.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be familiar with operation and use MS Office, Excel spreadsheets and various application programs.Certificate & Licenses: Forklift Operator’s Certification required or is able to be forklift certified after attending on-site Forklift Training program.Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Exposure to: moderate noise level, out-side and inside work, high/low temperatures, high humidity, hazardous materials and solvent fumes.Must be able to work in and walk through production areas.Must be able to work indoor and outdoor.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
