Job Description : Hardware Specialties, Inc. is a locally owned, specialty hardware and lumber supplier. We have provided excellent service to the Alaskan woodworking and construction community since 1984. We are a business who cares about our customers, and has a close knit relationship with them.Job Description: Full timeHours: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PMCompensation depends on experience. This will be discussed further in the interview process.We aim to provide quality customer service in the fine woodworking community.For this job you should be able to facilitate the sales and distribution process on all levels including: customer service, shipping/ receiving, material handling, and computer operations.Key Responsibilities: -Sales and customer service, including over the phone sales.- Product organization and visual display, sales oriented.-Maintaining an organized and efficient shipping/receiving area, warehouse, showroom.-Shipping and receiving of hardware, plywood and lumber ie: checking in vendor orders, processing special orders, producing sales orders ready for expedient pick up: will call, over the counter sales, orders to be shipped out.-Basic computer skills-Logistics: Be familiar with or the ability to learn and comprehend timelines from the states to Alaska, and within Alaska, the ability to communicate this knowledge to the customer clearly and positively.-Mathematical skills, basics: percentages, mark-ups, board footage (volume) or the basics behind it, absolutely necessary, repetitive and accurate basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide), sales oriented. Excel or spreadsheet formula knowledge and operation skills are useful and directly applicable.-Forklift operation (training available)Qualifications: -Must have excellent verbal / written communication skills.-Self motivated, self starting, willing to take the initiative , learn on ones feet, produce sales and cement quality customer relationships.-Able to lift 50+ lbs. repeatedly-Must be able to pass a drug screen prior to hire and have a clean criminal background.-Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent, 2 years+ college preferred.-Prior mechanical knowledge a plus, but not required ie: cabinet making, woodworking, metal work, any artistic craft or mechanical knowledge and experience will be beneficial.-Have the ability to work as part of a team.Work Environment- It is a lumber and hardware warehouse and showroom that are one in the same. You should be able to handle Alaskan weather, specifically in winter, for an hour or 2 at a time.
