Job Description : JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition DetailsPosition Title: Housekeeper IIDepartment: HousekeepingReports To: Housekeeping ManagementPOSITION PURPOSETo clean and maintain all public areas and guest rooms in order to maintain high standards of quality.EXAMPLE OF DUTIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAvg. % of Time40%Dust, mop, sweep, scrub, polish, vacuum, buff, wax, strip, dust and/or spot clean all floor surfaces, baseboards and walls. Surfaces to be cleaned may include marble, terrazzo, tile, carpet, etc., by lifting, bending, stooping or standing for extended periods of time.35%Dust furniture, columns, pictures, doorframes, and shelves while extending arms over head to reach, or climbing ladders up to 30 feet in height.15%Clean and polish brass, glass, windows, and mirrors.5%Push, pull or lift furniture in order to clean.5%Deliver linen to housekeeping closets.SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONSThis position may also be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions. The percentage of time to perform each task is to be determined by the Supervisor based on the particular requirements of the hotel.Respond in a timely manner to guest inquiries and assist with other information as requested.Reports all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions, etc., to Security Department.Provides guidance or instruction for guests and employees in fire safety or other emergency situations.Assist housekeepers in picking up linen and garbage.May perform other duties as assigned.OTHERRegular attendance in conformance with the standards which have been established by the hotel from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action procedures up to and including termination of employments.Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to workvarying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the hotel rules and regulations for the safe efficient operation of the hotel facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations are subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITYThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.Knowledge of stain removal and chemical agents and the operation of various cleaning equipment.Ability to lift, extend arms, scrub, bend, stoop, push/pull heavy cleaning equipment and be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
