We stock more grades than our competition, with over 18 million pounds (9,000 tons) in 38 different grades.Function: Performs confidential administrative and clerical activities to support the functions of the Human Resources Department.Duties and Responsibilities of Job: Assists employees by responding to employees’ questions regarding health, prescription, and dental coverage, procedures, and claims processing. Communicates insurance status changes to insurance carriers. Checks bills for accuracy.Maintains and ensures confidentiality of salary exempt and non-exempt and hourly personnel and medical information files.Processes documentation for new employees, enters it into master file, and prepares new hire files and administration of employee information within ADP Workforce Now.Maintains OSHA log and related work accident files and prepares monthly work accident report. Opens workers’ compensation claims with insurance carrier when appropriate and submits bills to be paid for injuries to insurance carrier or Accounting.Creates and edits Company newsletter. Requests articles and interviews from various personnel. Completes mailing to employees and retireesPerforms functions of Notary Public.Administers Short-Term Disability (STD) Policy, Long-Term Disability (LTD) Policy and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) coverage.Prepares attendance warnings as needed. Provides updates to employees, supervisors, Manager – Operations & Manufacturing, and the CFO & Vice President – Administration to address attendance issues. Prepares Status Change Forms and updates master file when employees are absent due to STD or Workers’ Compensation and again on their return to duty.Assists in the completion of life insurance beneficiary forms. Maintains life insurance, pension, and 401(k) beneficiary forms.Administers Tuition Reimbursement Policy.Administers Service Award Program and coordinates annual retiree dinner.Processes required driver abstract record check. Schedules DOT physicals. Maintains vehicle folders and renews registrations for all Company-owned vehicles.Assists CFO & Vice President – Administration in coordinating and managing employee social events and safety-related activities.Prepares and mails monthly health insurance billing statements to qualified disabled employees and COBRA participants and follows up as necessary. Generates COBRA letter for retirees and other eligible terminated employees.Compiles and distributes information to supervisors for hourly and salary performance appraisals.
