Aqqaluk Trust is a 501 (c)3 non-profit private foundation. The Aqqaluk Trust was founded in 1989 in honor of Robert Aqqaluk Newlin, Sr., one of the great Iñupiat leaders. The foundation first provided scholarship funding for eligible applicants seeking training or pursuing their secondary education.

Since its inception, Aqqaluk Trust has grown and now provides more Iñupiaq language and cultural resources. Aqqaluk Trust currently focuses on three major areas related to the language, culture, and education of the Iñupiat people of northwest Alaska.

uunialiqput Office Manager should be an energetic self-motivated person who is responsible for the coordination and completion of various office tasks and provides administrative support for the

Iñuunialiqput

Operations Manager. They will work to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and timely communications of the office. This position reports directly to the I

ñ

uunialiqput Operations Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Be a point person for the Iñuunialiqput Department and directly assist the Iñuunialiqput Operations Manager in the planning, execution, and follow-up of various department tasks. Records activities for monthly reports.

Maintain an efficient and enjoyable work environment, coordinate staff meetings, trainings, and activities.

Assist in scheduling meetings, maintain Iñuunialiqput calendar of events, oversee and support administrative, reception, and clerical duties of the office.

Organize office operations, assist in process improvements, maintain office supply inventory, design and implement filing systems, dispatch or resolve internal and external requests.

Work with the HR and IT Departments to ensure timely completion of personnel and other interoffice paperwork.

Provide direction and guidance for Leadership Interns as they learn efficient ways to manage an office, plan meetings and events, and gain confidence in their skills.

Assist in various events such as the Regional Youth and Elders, Iñupiaq Language Conferences, and Camp Sivunniigvik events.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates Degree or three years of experience in a related field.

Have experience in handling a range of office duties and administrative support-related tasks.

Be well-organized with attention to detail, flexible, and enjoy multitasking and administrative duties. Able to work with little or no supervision.

Be a creative problem solver and willing to work with our team to develop innovative ideas and strategies.

Have some knowledge of Iñupiat Ilitqusait and a basic understanding of Iñupiatun and/or willingness to learn.

Must be able to operate in a climate of confidentiality requiring discretion.

A valid Alaska driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to Aqqaluk Trust’s insurance carrier is required.

Be willing to travel as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather:
Environmentally controlled, requires most work to be done inside. May occasionally be exposed to harsh outdoor weather conditions.

Noise level:
Quiet to Moderate

Environment:
Office environment with customer interaction both in person, over the phone and by email. The pace of the work environment is moderate.

Travel:
Up to 10% of the time

Physical requirements:
Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Must constantly be able to sit, stand, walk, use hands and arms. Will occasionally be required to stoop, kneel and crouch.
