Mauliola Ke‘ehi is a Hawaiian culture-focused, placed-based education organization steeped in rich history that provides transformative healing through culture and art. The mission of Mauliola Ke‘ehi is to promote transformative healing through reconnection between the ‘aina and our community, to inspire, educate and transform human consciousness regarding the rich cultural history of our Hawaiian ancestors and the mo‘olelo they embraced.
Member Duties : The VISTA will support Mauliola Ke’ehi various activities that combat poverty through educational support, health education, cultural competency, and land-based education for Kalihi’s public housing youth. The VISTA will assist with: (1) recruitment and management of a growing pool of volunteers (2) the development of a volunteer database comprised of quantitative and qualitative data to be utilized for current and future grant-funding (3) supporting the program’s evaluation efforts with evaluators from the local university (4) improving the program’s online presence by updating the website and social media pages. The VISTA is expected to spend the first 3 months of service familiarizing themselves with program activities and procedures. Preference for candidates who have a college degree and have taken a Native Hawaiian language college course.
