Position : Laboratory Project Manager

Job Description : POSITION SUMMARYThe Laboratory Project Manager acts as a versatile resource for laboratory data management, quality control, and project execution. This position is responsible for developing and administering schedules and performance requirements, interacting with other labs and coordinating program activities with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and employees, and ensuring Standard Operating Procedures and protocols are maintained and applied.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS· Establish Data Quality Objectives, upload any required laboratory data, narrate analytical and QC outliers, compile, and populate final report and documents for submission.· Administer and coordinate all activities, educational programs, and infrastructure related to the operation of the laboratory.· Develop, implement, and manage laboratory(s) policies and procedures.· Maintain liaison with staff to solve specific operating problems and improve technical activities, providing input where required.· Monitor laboratory testing and reporting activities to determine conformance with authorized policies, procedures, and governing regulations, and make appropriate recommendations for correction and improvement as necessary.· Carry out quality assurance programs, including data validation procedures and techniques to ensure high-quality standards are met.· Pursues and maintains laboratory accreditation activities.· Maintain quality checks on safety of laboratory, including biohazards and ensure maintenance of the facilities according to Good Laboratory Practices.· Assist in formulating and implementing the short and long-range goals for the operation of the laboratory; set priorities, assign responsibilities, and establish timetables. Project future needs and formulate strategies consistent with projections.· Oversee the installation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.· Develop and review technical reports reflecting volume of work, procedures utilized, and test results as well as monitor the preparation of reports and analyses by laboratory staff.· Work cooperatively with clients and maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate.· Provide technical consultation to other laboratories and service programs.· Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION/TRAINING· Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, or other physical science preferred.· Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) preferred.· Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS· Experience in project management and understanding of Alaskan regulations.· Experience in laboratory scientific resource material and laboratory equipment.· Experience with state and federal guidelines and regulations applicable to laboratory safety and security.· Knowledgeable in quality assurance procedures applicable to a laboratory.· Strong computer skills (MS Office and database use.)· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.· Ability to successfully communicate with a diverse audience.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS· Valid state driver’s license.· Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.Job Type: Full-timePay: $1.00 per hourSchedule:Day shiftEducation:Bachelor’s (Preferred)License/Certification:PMP (Preferred)Work Location: One location
