Job Description : At Lavazza, the Machines and Packaging Buyer has the responsibility for the operational management of packaging & machine suppliers and elements of strategic management of prime spend on machines and packaging for the New York office and West Chester’s factory to ensure cost effective, sustainable supply.Sustainable Packaging & Raw Materials Supply is critical to the operational success of the business and a failure in packaging supply impacts sales and revenue within a matter of days.Key Responsibilities· Supply Chain Management – Manage the day-to-day execution of schedule agreements and purchasing order contracts for approved sourcing strategies for strategic packaging & machine categories in support of the Strategic Sourcing Managers development projects.· Supplier Relationship Management– Responsible for commercial relationships with the supply base across a multi-cultural arena.· Stakeholder Engagement – Responsible for developing and maintain key stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment on scheduling execution in conjunction with on-going supply chain management and supplier quality assurance.· Sourcing Strategy Development – Create strategies for non-strategic packaging & machine categories using the best practices and established processes.· Sourcing Category Expertise – Develop an in-depth understanding of the packaging and machines environment in which the suppliers operate and manage suppliers accordingly while communicating to the business the opportunities or challenges that exist within the categories.· Effective Sourcing – Execute approved sourcing strategies for materials in the non-strategic packaging & raw materials categories and drive costs down in an effort to increase EBITA. Reconcile invoices with Accounts Payable to ensure timely payments to suppliers.· Planning & Logistics Support – Support the Planning and Demand function as the liaison with suppliers to ensure adherence to the short term and long-term schedule.· Negotiation – Conduct negotiations to ensure agreement between commercial and supplier and/or internal clients in order to reach a mutually acceptable outcome.Context and ScopeThe Machines & Packaging Buying role is to execute the buying strategies developed by the Strategic Sourcing Manager (Machines & Packaging) in the local region and then manage the on-going supplier relationships and operational commercial activities.The job holder is responsible for supporting buying strategies for the regionally specific packaging & machine categories for which they are accountable. Once approved and implemented the job holder will use supplier segmentation processes to develop appropriate relationship management strategies for suppliers and leverage their capabilities to achieve continuous improvement and bring innovation to the business.The job holder will drive continuity of supply through the management of working relationships, contracts, pro-active risk management activity and supplier involvement. He/she will also be responsible for packaging & machine cost reduction projects, commercial aspects of innovation and interface with R&D, Quality, Logistics and Marketing (as appropriate).The job holder will develop an expertise in SAP to support requisitioners and manage data collection to support the business reviews required for the suppliers under their responsibility. Communicate potential shortages or risks to the continuity of supply.The job holder needs to gather market intelligence on commodities being purchased as well as benchmarking costs by quoting with multiple suppliers while understanding price drivers in order to influence requirements and specifications internally and externally. This includes working closely with R&D and other stakeholders in enhancing the propositions for packaging material supply for Lavazza. Work with Logistics and SQA in setting and monitoring improvement programs or the suppliers in terms of quality, cost and delivery.Job Specifications/Qualifications1. Education & Professional Qualification· 4-year degree from an accredited institution in Business, or technical/science related discipline· Purchasing experience2. Knowledge/Experience· Experience in managing a supplier base ideally global and working in cross-functional business/project teams.
