Job Description : About Quantitative Research
Quantitative Research (QR) is an expert quantitative modeling group in J.P. Morgan, as well as a leader in financial engineering, data analytics, statistical modeling and portfolio management. As a global team, QR partners with traders, marketers and risk managers across all products and regions, contributes to sales and client interaction, product innovation, valuation and risk management, inventory and portfolio optimization, electronic trading and market making, and appropriate financial risk controls.
Opportunity
For its Quantitative Research group within the Wholesale Credit Risk organization, we are looking for an associate to tackle the regulatory CCAR/CECL modeling for wholesale credit exposures. The role would require development of analytic tools and core libraries to assist model development, back testing and business analysis of model outputs through big data platform and web based reporting tools; build bespoke risk analytics tools for risk metrics reports and to explain variance.

Your Impact
You’ll contribute to the firm’s risk model evolution, credit capital assessment and effective risk management. Specially, you’ll have the chance to:
Develop tools and analytics across wholesale credit portfolios and regulatory exercises to enhance the model usage by business
Participate in all aspects of quantitative activities ranging from model research and prototyping to business support
Partner with QR modeling, stress testing, finance and risk teams to setup efficient processes for model execution and business review
Implement models within the firm’s analytical libraries, explain forecasts to senior management and partner stakeholders
Write detailed technical model documents and perform ad-hoc analyses during the model review phase.
About You
Combinations for the following will be a strong plus.
Strong programming in Python with experience on relational databases
Knowledge and experience in big data platform (SPARK/Hadoop/Impala/Kinetica) is preferred.
Experience working in a shared computing environment (Linux) and with version control
You are experienced with quantitative modeling in the wholesale area for regulatory exercises (e.g. CCAR or Basel)
You have experience in working in a shared computing environment (Linux) with version control.
You are motivated to take initiative and solve problems independently
You have strong organizational / project management skills to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously
You possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Desirables
PhD/Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Engineering, Physics etc. and related fields from a premier institute.
3-5 years of relevant experience on application development or experience as a data scientist/big data engineer
Good knowledge of financial instruments and financial risk management principles is preferred.
Prior experience in writing model documents is strongly preferred but not mandatory
