Job Description : Job descriptionWe are a Steamship Agency looking for a Vessel Manager for our Vancouver WA operations office.Job Duties: This job entails the set up, documenting, and management of a vessel’s port call while keeping our principals informed daily of the status of their vessel. You would be assigned multiple vessels and would also need to assist others as needed. You need to read a large amount of email traffic and extract instructions and follow through on those instructions. You will need to board your assigned vessels on arrival, departure, docking, undocking, and daily while at the berth day or night in any weather. You may be required to assist other offices as needed.Job Requirements: Communicate effectively both written and spoken with reasonable spelling and grammarAble to work nights and assigned weekends/holidaysAble to work in a team environmentAble to board ships at anchor and at berthAble to ride a water taxiHave a TWIC or able to obtain oneComputer literacyPass initial and causal drug/alcohol screeningsHave a clean driving recordBe professional, trustworthy, and honestHave self-respect and the ability to respect othersAble to listen effectivelyAble to read large amounts of information and act on it without instructionDon’t criticizeBe positiveWhat we Offer: Salary is dependent upon experience.A night work supplement is paid when boarding a vessel between 1800 and 0600.Additional compensation is made for working weekends and holidays.We have a generous benefits package (medical, dental, vision. LTD, Life Insurance) which includes 401k.An auto allowance is paid for using your personal vehicle ..We are also employee owned and company shares grow in value as you stay with the company adding to your retirement money.Background: Experience in the commercial maritime industry is preferred.A high school diploma is required for minimum education. Those with Maritime Schooling or prior Maritime Industry Experience are given preference.Employee must have or be able to obtain a TWIC.
