Campus Security Officer. The purpose of this position is to ensure a safe, secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors in a way that promotes the healing and teaching mission of HMC. Becoming a member of the Security Services team is an outstanding opportunity to help cultivate the relationship between security and the community. The team has a crucial role in maintaining a positive, caregiving and welcoming environment at the HMC campus in a manner that is consistent with UW Medicine Patients Are First Service Culture Guidelines. Campus Security Officers provide assistance and effective problem resolution for patients, staff, and visitors throughout the multiple departments of HMC, in both patient and non-patient areas. While modeling UW Medicine Service Culture Guidelines and utilizing excellent customer service skills, the responsibilities of a Campus Security Officer include oversight of the campus from a security perspective, response to emergencies, and enforcement of select policies.
General responsibilities and duties include:
Oversight and inspection of assigned areas of HMC campus (on foot or by vehicle).
Serve as a liaison and public relations representative with patients, visitors, and staff for matters related to security and public safety.
Respond to calls for assistance and assist medical personnel.
Obtainment of information and preparation of written reports.
Coordination with medical professionals, police officers, firefighters, and senior management.
Incident investigation and dispatch duties.
Providing of information and accessible customer service assistance to the public.
Maintenance of routine records.
Checking and securing of doors for security reasons.
Administering of first aid and response to calls for emergency aid.
Reportage of maintenance concerns with buildings or grounds.
Performing other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned. Posts and assignments may vary.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver’s license; no previous felony convictions; AND two years of full-time college in police science or allied field; OR two years of police or campus security experience.
