GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB:
This position is responsible for the general oversight of the Fire Rescue Services Department’s equipment and supplies. Responsibilities include purchasing, monitoring, and issuing equipment and other department related supplies. Under direction of the Assistant Fire Chief, the Supply Officer assists administrative personnel with the oversight and inventory of Department assets as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains and tracks inventory of firefighting, EMS, uniform, and personal protective equipment (PPE) items;
Delivers, picks up, and distributes department supplies and equipment;
Contacts vendors, suppliers, and contractors to obtain quotes for equipment and supplies;
Recommends purchases and selection of vendors, obtains approval for purchases;
Creates purchase requisitions and processes invoices;
Maintains purchase records and ensures accuracy of data;
Assists administrative staff with budget process for equipment and supplies;
Conducts periodic inventory counts;
Ensures proper security and storage of supplies and equipment;
Copies and distributes forms, reports, correspondence, and other related materials.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of Fire Rescue operations, specialized materials, and supplies;
Knowledge of purchasing process and related documentation;
Knowledge of inventory management and delivery methods;
Skilled in the operation of standard office equipment and computer equipment;
Skilled in accurate data entry;
Ability to organize, keep detailed records, and prepare reports;
Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in performing purchasing functions;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, both internally and externally;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and vendors;
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, maintain good working relationship, exercise initiative and sound judgment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required;
Public safety experience preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid State of Florida Class “E” driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE DESIGNATION:
When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration that a state of emergency exists, employees in this classification will be deemed essential by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS OR CONDITIONS:
The environmental conditions and physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently required, weekly or up to daily, to:

Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like;
Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces;
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods;
Moving about within the immediate area to accomplish tasks;
Moving from one worksite to another;
Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions;
Communicating with others to exchange information;
Repeating motions that may include wrists, hands, or fingers;
Operating a computer and other equipment using motions requires manual dexterity or fine motor skills;
Operating motor vehicles;
Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned;
Ability to observe details accurately and identify variances;
Life/Carry objects 50 pounds or less;
Push/Pull objects 50 pounds or less;
Working in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation of the like;
Working in an area that is very uncomfortable due to extreme temperature, noise levels, or other environmental conditions;
Working in an outdoor area where exposure to animals, reptiles and/or insects may occur;
Working with equipment or performing procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, or muscle pulls.
