Job Description : Who You’ll Work With
You will be based in McKinsey office in Gurugram, as a member of our growing community of risk and compliance colleagues, reporting to the Director of Risk, Asia. You will collaborate closely with other colleagues in our Social Sector, Healthcare & Public Entities (SHaPE) Asia risk team, strategy and operations team and colleagues in enterprise risk management (ERM), risk culture, compliance, and other firm functions.
You will work as part of the firm’s global client service risk function (the client service risk team), which advises McKinsey’s partners and the client service risk committee (CSRC – a committee of respected senior partners supported by firm functions professionals that advises on the most complex risks) on how the firm can best serve its clients, while managing the risks involved.
What You’ll Do
You will help to strengthen our approach to risk management by triaging and advising on risk questions.
In this role, you will track compliance with risk policies applicable to high risk client engagements, track cases and trends, build awareness and capabilities, and help oversee our approach to risk management for our work in our Social Sector, Healthcare & Public Entities (SHaPE) practice and beyond in the region. As part of this role, you will work together with other core team members, as well as those from legal, communications, security, and finance.
You will work to enhance the overall risk registration process and tracking and reporting on compliance with that process and leverage and add information to our case management system, that enables the function to monitor and improve risk compliance while meeting new data requirements. You will advise and counsel on a variety of risk-related questions and topics, including triaging requests for risk advice, providing initial guidance and escalating complex issues based on sector, geography, and/or risk type.
You will also help advise leaders of the risk function, public, social & state-linked sector practices and service lines on risks they face and opportunities through the creation and maintenance of regular dashboards tracking risk activities across the region. You will draft communications to firm leaders about risk cases and trends, including regular reporting (e.g. monthly risk updates, regular risk trackers, newsletters).
Additionally, you will support knowledge-management initiatives, help facilitate CSRC discussions, and contribute to or lead special projects and Asia Risk initiatives, including enhancements to Asia Risk’s compliance efforts. You will assist, and in some instances lead, special projects and initiatives related to team operations and high-risk areas and coordinate and assist on development of regional compacts and risk assessments.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree, as well as demonstrable intellectual curiosity through professional training, advanced degree, or professional impact
3+ years of professional experience in a professional services environment / public sector and government issues such as public policy, politics, public services, regulation, current affairs, and stakeholder engagement / consulting, practice management, risk management, communications, knowledge management
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment by prioritizing and balancing competing, time-urgent demands and geographies
Excellent problem-solving, database-management and project management skills, including strong organization, responsiveness, and ability to prioritize
Positive, diplomatic, mature with excellent judgment and good instincts
Interest in and affinity for risk and professional-standards issues
Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with a track record as self-starter
Comfort with ambiguity
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills: ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based, peer-counselor relationships
Experience with quantitative analysis in Excel (e.g., comfortable working with pivot tables); prior experience with or willingness to learn SQL, use of Tableau and/or Salesforce will be an advantage
Excellent listening skills
Outstanding English written and oral communication skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills, with strong personal presence and credibility
