General Summary: Performs secretarial and clerical duties in professional manner. Preserves HIPAA compliance of medical information. Assists the professional/clinical staff in the overall functioning of assigned area’s programs. Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision and values of the department on a daily basis.
Job Description:

Performs general secretarial and clerical duties as needed.
Greets people at front counter, answers phones, schedules patient appointments.
Charts/Records: updates medical records, immunizations and health history forms in the electronic health records. Prepares charts for appointments, records retrieval per department policy and state regulation. Filing as needed.
Registration: Assists in registration holds process, communicates requirements, tracks incoming records and updates registration holds as indicated.
Operations:
Provides support for efficient clinic operations: sorting mail, filing, and form generation.
Operates and assists in the maintenance of office equipment, i.e. fax, pc’s, copiers, multi-phone lines.
Manages general office supplies needs in coordination with Clinic Manager.
Cleaning: wiping down public areas at the end of each day, stocking exam rooms as directed by providers.

Requirements:

Two years college equivalency. Bachelor’s degree a plus.
At least one year experience as an office assistant or medical office assistant with word processing and document management experience.
Ability to prioritize and receive directions from multiple people.
Legible hand writing.
Understanding of HIPAA requirements.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Familiar with operating standard office equipment and multi phone line system.

Additional Information:
Position will remain open until filled. This position is full time for 10 months a year. Typically, appointment will be mid-August to mid-June, annually.
Salary: $24.00 – $25.20 per hour, DOE
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan. Tuition discount program available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
