Position : Claims Compliance Specialist
Job Description : Job Summary
Performs ongoing, proactive audits of department processes and procedures to ensure continued compliance with laws and regulations; assists in coordination and deployment of compliance action plans within the business unit to address issues or changing regulations
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Performs duties under general supervision while assisting in the oversight and coordination of the implementation of new laws and regulations that impact the operating procedures within the business units; consults with compliance analyst/supervisor to immediately deliver findings from audits and process reviews applicable to adherence to all regulatory requirements and compliance processes; performs random audits to ensure continued compliance; assists in coordination and deployment of action plan within business unit
Audits, monitors, and evaluates the quality of service provided through Internal Audit; documents root cause nonconformance issues and performance measures for analyst and management review; researches current processes and procedures to assist the division with implementation of concepts to improve processes; acts as subject matter expert when needed
Works with business units and Internal Audit to facilitate resolution of departmental risks identified by Internal Audit (e.g., coordinate SCR development and process improvements, etc.) and to develop and maintain efficient work process; conducts quarterly audit of security roles and permissions of business unit employees to ensure appropriate system access
Collects relevant information and stays abreast of legislative changes in the industry; reviews insurance laws and regulations, and works with team members to determine the impact on company processes; provides information to the business units about new and revised laws and regulations
Maintains effective and accurate online records, databases, or manual filing systems that provide a quick-reference resource for information on department activity and document/correspondence status; prepares department productivity statistical reports and other ad hoc reports
Performs other related duties as required
Education & Experience Required
Minimum Required High School Diploma
4 years of related work experience
Education & Experience Preferred
Claims or compliance experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork/facilitating skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and telephone customer service skills to effectively interact with Aflac’s customers, executive management, and external business contacts
