Job Description : Contribute to REI’s success through the production of compelling, brand-appropriate audio content that introduces new audiences to the Co-op, aligns with our business goals, and helps connect every person to the power of time outside.

This person will be responsible for creating compelling audio content to engage REI’s customer base and support brand and marketing objectives. They will work collaboratively with marketing teams including brand creative, channel partners, Co-op Brands and Co-op Media to create audio content for internal digital channels and external podcast platforms.

This person will work with the senior podcast producer across all areas of podcast production, including researching guests, creating episode briefs, writing scripts, and editing interviews. They will be responsible for producing audio assets that can be used across platforms to support brand and marketing objectives and supporting the evolution of how audio is integrated within content and marketing strategies. The work supports the program through creative development, resource management, production support, and reporting and analytics. The work being produced must demonstrate the brand characteristics of being inclusive, real and connected. This person will be accountable for contributing to the REI brand and ensuring that the audio content is aligned with key messages.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about audio storytelling and podcasts and have the ability to think creatively about how the outdoor industry shows up in audio. You will be well acquainted with the audio/podcast industry and pay attention to best practices, how the medium is changing, and want to bring that change and energy to REI. You love spending time outdoors, whether that’s in your neighborhood or in the mountains, and want other people to love it, too.

Job Responsibilities:

Concepts and executes original content ideas for audio
Develop and assist with multiple podcast productions
Assist with episode scheduling, outlines, contracts, and prep work for each podcast
Pre-interviews podcast guests and prepares research material for host
Organize pre-production, production, and post-production documents to ensure all proper paperwork is processed, filed and stored for future needs.
Edit podcast episodes and other content, as needed
Write show notes and publish episodes across podcast platforms
Partners with external producers to ensure consistent, quality content that aligns with REI’s brand
Assist with marketing strategy to maintain and increase engagement on owned and external platforms
Collaborate with marketing channels and marketing integration on planning alignment and GTM support
Assist with ad creative with talent based on campaigns and client timelines
Manage multiple production calendars and deadlines
Pull show and episode analytics for internal and external reporting purposes

Bring your passion and expertise

Job Requirements:

2+ years’ experience in audio production or a related field
Bachelor’s degree in audio production, journalism, communications or related field or relevant work experience
Experience with audio editing software (Adobe Audition or ProTools)
Proficient in Microsoft Office business applications
Excitement to learn more about audio as a storytelling and brand building medium
Ability to understand what’s working on other podcasts and how to apply that to our shows – we want you to bring your expertise and opinions to the table
Experience or desire to learn about marketing and distribution of podcasts
Writing, editing and research skills to ensure accuracy across our shows
Ability to execute effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines and keeping other informed of work plans and progress toward goals
Ability to work with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization

As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, REI provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.
$47,500 to $97,500 per year
