Job Description : Job Overview
The AFRL Materials and Manufacturing Directorate seeks to hire a motivated and experienced mid-level, DO-02 position as a Security Specialist and Physical Security Manager in the Security Operations Branch in the Integration and Operations Division of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate in Air Force Research Laboratory, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Both promotion (DO-01 or equivalent) and lateral (DO-02 or equivalent) candidates will be considered. This posting is open for 6 business days (04-11 Apr 2022).
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
Leads implementation and administration of Operations Security (OPSEC) Program in support of the RX directorate
Manages/monitors OPSEC Program as it pertains to unclassified and controlled unclassified information
Reviews documents/materials for public release; Identifies critical information and implements countermeasures to protect it from inadvertent disclosure
Advises management/employees of legal and regulatory provisions, requirements & processes related to security management and security administration
Performs as the Lead Antiterrorism (AT) Representative in support of the WPAFB Installation AT Officer (ATO) as it applies to operations within RX
Tests and maintains security systems and alarms to ensure operability and effectiveness. Conducts exercises and simulates incidents to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the Emergency and AT response operations, and initiates actions to eliminate weaknesses. Conducts other random AT measures as directed by the ATO.
Manages and updates FPCON levels status announcements during exercises and real world events
Analyzes existing Antiterrorism/Force Protection plans to recommend new policy, countermeasures, and program improvements.
Requests ATO support for surveys of facility resources and controlled areas to determine effectiveness of resource protection program
Performs first responder functions, Incident Management, and other critical operational and emergency planning duties
Leads Physical Security Program and Operational Instruction for the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate
Plans, develops, coordinates, and implements physical security projects to ensure physical layout and build-outs of new space or alterations of current space meet required security policies and standards. Provides advice and guidance on budgetary requirements for security equipment, systems, and space alterations necessitated by security considerations.
Is familiar with and remains adept to changes in DoD and other applicable regulations and guidance as it applies to the RX Physical Security Program and protection of classified facilities/activities.
Prepares written report of findings from risk assessments and compliance security reviews
Identifies and determines the necessary resources (e.g., funds, staff, equipment, etc.) to implement effective Physical Security or Loss Prevention Programs.
Supports implementation and administration of Information Security (INFOSEC) efforts for the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate
Implements policies & develops local procedures for classification & protection of classified national defense & other sensitive info originated or controlled by the Technical Directorate (TD) activities
Primary Security container inspector for RX; trains new security container custodians
Develops & implements security education/training program & assists Chief of Information Protection in administering education/motivation programs. Coordinates the TD’s Security Education Training and Awareness (SETA) Program for RX personnel.
Provides briefings to new personnel on DOD, USAF, MAJCOM, AFRL & TD security procedures
Provides technical guidance and advice to management/workforce on security topics
Resolves classification and declassification problem areas and advises tech personnel on classification requirements for programs and projects
Reviews security incidents and assists in determining appropriate corrective action
Assists with conducting annual Security Self-Inspection and facilitates higher agency inspections of TD Info Protection programs
Communicates & integrates the organization strategic plan, mission, vision & values into info protection team strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, products & services
Required Qualifications
United States Citizenship
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Travel and/or performance of additional duties may be required.
Must have or be able to obtain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) within 24 months.
