Position : Security Specialist
Job Description : Duties
The Security Specialist will serve as a resource to support judges on ways to enhance their personal security, as well as a resource to assist and support the chief judges of the circuit, district, and bankruptcy courts regarding the delivery of security services from the Judiciary’s Executive Branch security providers. The federal courts are split into twelve regional circuits and one Federal Circuit. There will be a security specialist in each circuit. The incumbent will report to the Chief, Judiciary Security Operations Branch, and their duties include, but are not limited to:
Serving as a security and emergency management resource to all judges within the Second Circuit AOR on ways to enhance their programs and services.
Collaborating with interagency partners and local, state, and federal public safety and security agencies to establish relationships, coordinate, and develop information-sharing practices.
Establishing relationships with the United States Marshals Service (USMS) representatives to develop and communicate threat or inappropriate communications concerning judges within their AOR.
Serving as a security and emergency management resource for court units within the AOR to assist and facilitate coordination and communication between the local levels for USMS, Federal Protective Service (FPS), and the General Services Administration (GSA) relating to security-related events, issues, or investigations.
Coordinating with chief judges of the circuit, district, and bankruptcy courts to identify judicial security needs in particular districts and assist in supporting a resolution of these needs with USMS, FPS, and GSA staff.
Managing operational budget, monitoring applicable accounts, approving expenditures, and providing future year cost projections to JSD leadership.

If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.
Qualifications
Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
Specialized Experience
: Applicants must have at least
one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position.
Specialized experience is demonstrated experience in ALL of the following areas:
Collaborating with interagency partners and local, state, and federal public safety and security agencies;
Planning, developing, and evaluating the results of security programs to ensure program operations meet established standards;
Providing law enforcement support to communities and supervising law enforcement officers; and
Providing security and emergency management services to stakeholders.
