Job Description : Alaska Glacier Seafoods is a locally (family) owned and operated fish processing company located in Juneau, Alaska. AGS has been processing and shipping high quality, wild-caught fresh and frozen seafood since 1996. AGS produces halibut, salmon, rockfish, true cod, black cod, sea cucumbers, crab and shrimp, which is then packaged and shipped worldwide.
Job Description: Process halibut, salmon, rockfish, true cod, black cod, shrimp, prawns, sea cucumber and crab. Other duties may include, but not be limited to: general seafood processing, packaging, cleaning the processing area and equipment as needed. Shifts may vary from day shift or night shift, depending on the delivery, processing schedule & season.
Start Date: February 1, 2022 (Supervisors can extend employment for seasoned workers).
Crab Season: February – March, unless released by employer. Contract may start earlier for experienced workers. Salmon Season: June – October, unless released by employer. Contract may start earlier for experienced workers.
Sea Cucumber Season: October – December, unless released by employer. Contract may start earlier for experienced workers.
Starting Wage: Up to $13.00 an hour.
Average Hours per week: Availability of wild seafood to process can vary depending on the boat deliveries, weather conditions, catch rates, harvest openings & delivery schedules. AGS strives to provide as consistent work schedule as possible for our crew. However, there are times of the season that it is not possible to provide work every day for all workers. Due to the nature of our industry, we cannot guarantee a minimum number of hours for each worker, but based on prior years, this is the general trend:
February 15th – March 7th: 12-16 hour days, 7 days a week.
July 1st – August 15th: 12-16 hours days, 7 days a week.
August 16th – September 30th: Inconsistent number of hours and days.
October 1st – November 30th: Up to 12 hour days. Approximately 5 7 days a week.
All other dates: Inconsistent number of hours and days, based on availability of seafood and projects.
Gear: AGS supplies all required gear.
Housing: AGS offers shared apartment-style company housing (cost, rules and regulations apply).
