About your role:
The Project Associate for Urban Water practice will work closely with WRI India’s Urban Water Resilience practice and AIWASI (Australia India Water Security Initiatives) Project stakeholders. This is a project-based role and entails delivering AIWASI project related activities, liaising with partners, undertaking projects and research work that will solve critical urban water challenges in India such as improving citywide inclusive and resilient access to WASH service provisioning, water sensitive urban development, rejuvenation of urban blue-green spaces, urban water resilience, onsite implementation of Nature-based Solutions/ Blue-Green Infrastructure/ WASH projects etc. The projects will include working with governments, professionals, private sector, civic groups and other stakeholders on solving the problems in a city and can be scaled-up in other contexts. You will consider issues of sustainable development, around socio-economic and environmental well-being of the people as basic approach to solve the problems. The selected candidate will report to Director-Urban Water Practice.
The candidate should be passionate about solving urban water challenges and self-driven towards influencing positive changes in the real world. The candidate should have deep understanding of the local context of Delhi and should help in identifying impactful positive changes that need to be achieved in the context of current urbanization. The candidate should be hands-on and equally good in conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, prepare clearly written reports and communication material. The candidate should be energetic and agile, willing to respond quickly, outcome-oriented, team player, willing to travel at short notice and able to engage with partners and stakeholders.
How your day will unfold:
The successful candidate will handle a range of practice responsibilities. Some of the key responsibilities include:
Research & Knowledge:

Conducting research, undertaking analysis and synthesize solutions towards project deliverables and on-site project implementation
Working on Australia India Water Security Initiative (AIWASI).
Researching on water sensitive urban design, water sensitive city, water supply and sanitation infrastructure, flooding and storm water management and water policy and governance with WRI and its stakeholders/partners
Handling, analyzing and visualizing research datasets.
Helping to write up short blogs, project reports, research reports and any other relevant and appropriate deliverables with WRI and its project partners for implementation.

Administrative:

Liaising with AIWASI project partners, government agencies and experts
Organizing internal and external meetings, workshops, conferences and other dissemination activities.

Qualifications and requirements we seek:

Doctoral degree or Master’s Degree in science, engineering, social science, sociology, planning, water infrastructure, public policy, sociology, water science and governance or a related field with educational and professional experience in dealing with urban water issues.
Strong analytical skills and experience in multi-criteria decision analysis
Experience in undertaking fieldwork under challenging conditions. This may include community consultations and survey within urban informal settlements.
Exceptional research skills and experience in evaluating research methodologies
Willingness to engage with the team members in India and globally with a strong sense of respect for the team
Excellent written skills with the ability to express complex concepts clearly and concisely
Ability to work under demanding schedules and organize logistics around travel for work
Attention to details and ability to analyze these details under pressure
Willingness to travel for work to different states in India on a regular basis and on short notice
Fluency in English and Hindi is a must
Confidence and independence to take initiative, with the awareness and judgement to seek help when needed.

Salary and Benefits: 7,00,000 to 8,00,000 INR
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
