What You’ll Be Doing in the role of Benefits Specialist
Daily administration of health and welfare, retirement, voluntary benefit, leave of absence management, work/life balance, and wellness programs. Serve as point of contact for employee benefit-related inquiries. Collaborate with outside brokers, third party administrators and vendors as appropriate.
What You Will Bring to the Table
The primary objective of the Benefits Specialist is to support Susan G. Komen in achieving our overall goals and mission by:
Administering daily benefit plan activities in accordance with HIPAA regulations including enrollments, terminations, status changes, complex invoice reconciliation and payment processing, and HRIS/vendor electronic eligibility transfers. Coordinating employee enrollments and deductions with payroll, outside vendors, and advising employees of payroll deductions.
Administering vendor invoice reconciliation and payment, and purchasing card reconciliation.
Assisting with annual budget preparation, quarterly forecast review and monthly variance review.
Serving as primary point of contact for employee inquires related to benefit plan options and coverage, and brokers/vendors to resolve employee and plan administrative concerns.
Administering COBRA benefits via outside vendor system and tracking COBRA enrollments and payments.
Participating in Open Enrollment planning, employee communications, administrative arrangements, and monitoring/approving employee elections for accuracy and completeness. Assisting with post-Open Enrollment process with vendors, employees and payroll.
Assisting with 403(b) retirement plan daily administration involving 403(b) plan vendor, external advisors, payroll and employee inquiries. Assisting with communications. Schedule and coordination of employee meetings and Retirement Committee meetings.
Assisting with leave of absence management administration and recordkeeping involving coordination with outside providers, HRIS, payroll and employee inquiries.
Participating in planning, communication and execution of Wellness Program initiatives, activities, communications and events. Prepare Wellness Committee meeting minutes for distribution to meeting participants.
Assisting with benefit plan review, benchmarking, and cost analysis. Research industry and competitive trends for health and welfare, retirement and wellness plans.
Preparing benefit materials for new employees.
Maintaining employee benefit records in accordance with privacy requirements.
Ensuring benefit program materials are current and accessible to employees using available HRIS and intranet resources.
All other duties as assigned.
We already know you will also have
Solid understanding of health and welfare plans and relevant regulations.
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and HRIS systems.
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
Strong understanding of HIPAA.
Work Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience required to effectively perform the job responsibilities.
Education: Minimum of Associate Degree: (Business or human Resources preferred). Relevant benefits administration experience may be substituted for some of the education experience.
